Two Concussion Experts Join XLNTbrain Sport™ Science Advisory Board

(Newswire.net — February 2, 2016) National Harbor, Maryland —Two distinguished concussion experts, Dr. Alan Ashare and Adam Thomas, have joined the XLNTbrain LLC Science Advisory Board to study concussion protocol implementation and advise the company on advancing concussion best practices at all levels of sport. Dr. Ashare, a long-time sports concussion safety advocate, also serves on the Board of Directors of USA Hockey. Thomas, a noted physical therapist and athletic trainer for amateur and professional athletes, is currently a Physical Therapist and Athletic Trainer for the Boston Red Sox and an Adjunct Clinical Associate Professor at Northeastern University. 

Led by Harry Kerasidis, MD, a neurologist and co-Founder of XLNTbrain, the new Science Advisory Board Members will play important roles advancing concussion research with the online and mobile platform of XLNTbrain Sport™.

Dr. Alan AshareDr. Alan Ashare started the “Head Up, Don’t Duck” Program in ice hockey in 1995 to decrease the risk for catastrophic neck injuries. In addition to serving on the Board for XLNTbrain and USA Hockey, he is active in sports medicine committees for Massachusetts high schools and the Massachusetts Medical Society. He is a coauthor with Bill and Katharine White of the book “Winning the War Against Concussions in Youth Sports.” 

Adam C. Thomas PT, DPT, SCS, ATC is a physical therapist and athletic trainer for the Major League baseball team Boston Red Sox as well as an Adjunct Clinical Associate Professor at Northeastern University in the Department of Physical Therapy, Movement and Rehabilitation Sciences. He was previously Athletic Trainer and Physical Therapist for the Boston Cannons Professional Lacrosse Team and Team USA Outdoor and Indoor Lacrosse. Thomas is a board certified sports clinical specialist and member of the American Physical Therapy Association and the National Athletic Trainer Association.
