(Newswire.net — February 4, 2016) Scottsdale, Arizona — February is a special month for mystery fans as Poisoned Pen Press, one of the largest publishers of mystery novels, releases five new books by popular authors. The novels include works from the Golden Age of British crime fiction, a historical mystery set in the 13th century and a book with an investigative reporter as its central character that happens to be written by an acclaimed journalist.

“We take pride in our success in finding and publishing outstanding books written by some of today’s best mystery writers,” according to a spokesman for Poisoned Pen Press. “Each month we invite readers to DISCOVER MYSTERY™, and our February new releases certainly give our readers an excellent sampler from which to choose.”

Jana Bommersbach is an award-winning investigative reporter, so it seems only natural that the main character in her novel, Funeral Hotdish, is a female investigative journalist on the trail of the story of her career. Reporter Joya Bonner begins an investigation into the activities of a drug dealer, but her job and her life are soon in danger as she uncovers evidence of revenge and murder.

Readers can travel back to the 13th century by picking up a copy of Land of Shadows: A Medieval Mystery #12. Author Priscilla Royal packs the royal manor with an assortment of odd and fascinating guests who soon become suspects when one of them is found dead. The clever plot is full of twists and turns that will keep readers on the edge of their seats.

Unreasonable Doubt: A Constable Molly Smith Novel #8 by Vicki Delany is the perfect read for fans of police procedural novels. Constable Molly Smith is assigned an old murder case that everyone thought had been solved until the person convicted of committing the crime 25 years ago is exonerated and released from prison. Molly must try to find the real killer amidst the hostility of the townspeople as the former convict returns home. Things soon reach the breaking point when two women are attacked by an unknown assailant.

The last two monthly releases are for traditional British mystery fans. Murder at the Manor is a collection of stories representing the best works by some of the greatest names in British crime fiction. The stories, compiled by Martin Edwards, span a 65-year period, but they share a common element of taking place in iconic English country houses. Murder of a Lady by Anthony Wynne has been out of print since 1931, but Poisoned Pen Press brings this classic back for the enjoyment of lovers of locked-room mysteries.

The mystery book publishers of Poisoned Pen Press offer the public a selection of new mystery novels each month. Visit their website at http://poisonedpenpress.com/ to learn more about these titles and other mystery series and books.
