(Newswire.net — February 13, 2016) — New York – Next to Milan and Paris, New York has been one of the world’s major fashion capitals for many years now.

With almost 15 catwalks per day, more than 100 runways will host some of the most famous names in the fashion industry, including Carolina Herrera, Tommy Hilfiger, Vera Wang, Oscar de la Renta, Anna Sui, Michael Kors, Marc Jacobs, Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, Tadashi Shoji, Alexander Wang and many more.

Up and coming fashion designers from Serbia will present their latest works for the first time in front of US audiences. Zvonko Markovic, who won over audiences at this year’s Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week with his bold but elegant dresses made of silk, lace, satin and leather, is anxious to display his work that has made him popular in the EU.

“My designs were well received by audiences in Paris,” Markovic told Newswire in an interview. “I was even offered a sponsorship for lace and leather materials,” said the Serbian designer who was nominated for the International Talent Du Luxe et de la Creation Award in the Originality category at Paris Fashion Week.

“ For my New York fashion show, that will take a place on February 17th, I will showcase about 20 designs,” Markovic told Newswire, adding how excited he is for the opportunity to show his work and what an honor it is to present them at the beautiful Angel Orensanz Foundation event space. The space is described as one of the top 10 most visually stunning venues in NYC by major publications and was endorsed by late designer Alexander McQueen. In addition, it was Sarah Jessica Parker’s wedding venue of choice.

And while Zvonko is preparing for his American debut, we asked him to compare the New York and Paris Fashion Week.

“Both events are amazingly organized. Fashion is not only art, it is also a business, and everything has to function perfectly,” explained the designer from Serbia, who until recently only designed for Serbian celebrities.

“I like to create clothes that accentuate a woman’s elegance, femininity and sexuality,” Zvonko Markovic told Newswire, hoping that after Paris, his creations will be well accepted in the US.

Emphasizing how breathtaking it was to meet Anna Wintour a year ago at a Jean Paul Gaultier fashion show in Paris, Zvonko Markovic hopes that one day she will sit in front row at one of his shows.
