(Newswire.net — February 21, 2016) Bryan, TEXAS –Garrett Mechanical, Inc., a Texas award-winning mechanical contractor, has been awarded an HVAC renovation project at Texas A&M University’s Underwood Hall. The contract amount for the HVAC renovation of TAMU Underwood Hall, Bldg 0394 is $4,969,749. To be completed over a two-month period in summer 2016, the multi-million dollar contract follows a similar project the summer before last that was completed on schedule, which is essential for students to be able to move in by the fall semester.

The university will also renovate other student dorms, including Kreuger, Neely, and Legett halls during that general time period, according to TheEagle.com in Bryan-College Station, Texas. Renovations of the Fred W. Dollar Commissary building (a storage facility for data and servers) and 60,000 square foot Multipurpose Academic Building in McAllen are planned as well. The Underwood Hall renovation project was approved during a February 2016 Texas A&M University System Board of Regents meeting.

Larry Garrett, Vice-President of GMI, said, “We are continuing to upgrade and modernize facilities at TAMU to make it a state-of-the-art university for students to learn and live. By the Fall 2016 semester, residents of Underwood Hall will have the most reliable heating, ventilation, and cooling system available. Our organization is once again proud to serve this prestigious institution and apply our expertise for the good of its student body.”

Working with general contractors since 1988, Garrett Mechanical has completed HVAC, plumbing, piping, and sheet metal work on numerous commercial and industrial projects. It consistently completes large projects on-time and on-budget. In addition to serving the Texas A&M University system, completing several building projects over the years, it also participated in a major construction project at the University of Texas Health Science Center.
