(Newswire.net — March 10, 2016) — In the heat of the race for the GOP and the Democratic Party presidential nominations, most of the attention is paid to the candidates political views and promises. However, their taste in music differs as much as their taste in politics. CNN’s Live discovered what music the GOP candidates listen to.

Florida Senator, Marco Rubio, is an admirer of hip-hop and listens to EDM, “Afrika Bambaataa” and the late Tupac Shakur, while his rival from Texas, Ted Cruz, is fascinated with country music, much like Jeb Bush, who has said he relaxes to Florida Georgia Line. Although Ted Cruz grew up listening to rock, everything changed after the terrorist attacks in New York, he explained in an interview with CBS. ”On 9/11, I didn’t like how rock music responded. And country music collectively, the way they responded, it resonated with me and I have to say, it—just as a gut level, I had an emotional reaction that says, “These are my people.” And so ever since 2001 I listen to country music”, Cruz told CBS

According to the Rolling Stone Magazine, Democrats prefer classical tunes. Reportedly, Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders both share a love for classical music. Sanders has on his iPad all of Beethoven’s symphonies, and Clinton listens to classical music because it “relaxes her when thinking about stressful things.”

In recent months, there has been a lot of talk and publicity on the use and abuse of music for electoral purposes, which might make it seem like the candidates have the artists support. Clinton has spoken about admiring ladies from different genres, such as Loretta Lynn, Selena Gomez, Lana Del Rey and Lady Gaga, especially megastar Beyoncé. ‘I want to be as good a President, as Beyoncé is a performer,’ the media recall she said once.

Clinton’s party rival Sanders ventured into music himself back in 1987, when he was mayor of Burlington. He recorded an audio tape named after the legendary protest song “We Shall Overcome”, but with his visions of folk hymns “This Land Is Your Land” and “Where Have All the Flowers Gone.” However, music producer Todd Lockwood said recently that the senator from Vermont “has no sense of melody and rhythm,” which does not prevent Sanders from enjoying music performers such as The Temptations. Sanders also admitted that he likes ABBA and the Bee Gees.

Currently, the most popular and possibly most controversial candidate for President of the United States among the Republicans, Donald Trump, listens to Neil Young. The New York businessman also admitted that he will always be a fan of Canadian musicians, as well as classic rock and roll stars Aerosmith, Elton John, Paul McCartney and Michael Jackson.
