(Newswire.net — March 17, 2016) Huntington Beach, CA — Longtime community service asset Tammy Walz recently had a chance to reflect on her 30 year career leading several organizations throughout the United States.  Tammy believes that everyone should give back to the communities in which they live if they are able, and she has been instrumental in helping several non-profit groups provide valuable services to communities in and around Southern California. “Charitable organizations provide critical services for children and families in our communities,” says Tammy. “I’m proud to have been able to contribute my time and talents to helping them continue their services.” To learn more, visit http://www.ocregister.com/articles/club-528802-boys-girls.html

Perhaps the biggest highlight of her long career as a non-profit leader, Tammy led efforts to renovate the Boys and Girls Club of Oceanside Townsite facility, an aged structure in need of interior and exterior work. The Townsite facility, located at 401 Country Club Lane in Oceanside, serves over 3000 children in the North County community.  Tammy gathered local business leaders to contribute, and charitable donations totaling over $1 million in room dedications were secured for the extensive remodeling project. As part of the renovation, the Townsite facility’s electrical system was upgraded to help support digital media, tutoring, and computing programs.  Accessibility was improved according to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and outdoor lighting was installed to enhance security of the facility after dark.  When the facility was finished, it became a haven for after-school activities for children throughout the Oceanside community. “We’re proud of our achievements in completing this ambitious project,” says Tammy.  “The community’s support of our programs will help Townsite be a vital asset for children for many years to come.”

Walz began her career as a leader at the tender age of 16, when she first worked as a summer camp counselor for the YMCA.  In only a few years, she was named CEO of a YMCA chapter in Bowling Green, Kentucky.  Tammy has been an active member of several community groups during her career, most notably as a board member of the Oceanside Chamber of Commerce and a member of the Rotary Club.  In her free time, Tammy continues to serve children in her community by volunteering as a lacrosse coach for the El Camino High School in Oceanside.  To learn more about her charitable work, visit https://www.linkedin.com/in/tammywalz.
