(Newswire.net — March 28, 2016) Santa Ana, California — Skate ramp manufacturer, OC Ramps recently hosted their first annual Shop Slayer mini ramp contest, held at the company’s warehouse on March 12, 2016.  The concept for the event was simple:  invite skaters from a dozen local shops and have them compete against each other on OC’s own mini ramp.  The ramp featured a seven foot tall extension on a 5 foot high ramp that was 16 feet wide, custom-made for use in the warehouse by the manufacturer’s pro skate team. In addition to the ramp contest, the event featured refreshments from Rockstar Energy Drink and delicious barbecue burgers from local favorites Grinderz Burgers.  Company president Tyler Large said the event was a hit for everyone involved.  “We even had a DJ and live music from skateboarding band Lovely Sunny Day,” says Tyler.  To learn more about ramps similar to that used in the Shop Slayer competition, visit https://www.ocramps.com/mini-ramps/.

Twelve skate shops from around Southern California sent two of their best skaters to the competition. The shops in attendance were Legends, Socal, Attic, Jack’s Garage, Furnace, Republik, Pharmacy, Programme, Active Brea, WaveRave, Green Room, and Active Huntington Beach. The skating was so intense that judges had a hard time deciding which shop to award the $1500 ramp/rail credit to, but in the end, it was Anaheim Hills’ own Pharmacy Boardshop and riders Dylon Blackledge and Michael Schmidt who were crowned Shop Slayers of the 2016 event.  Calling the event a success, the organizers at OC Ramps are already looking forward to next year’s shop skate-off.

Hosting skating events at its warehouse is something OC Ramps does throughout the calendar year, but the company is known for helping support the worldwide skateboarding community by designing and manufacturing some of the best ramps available.  OC produces dozens of models of ramps, halfpipes, rails, and boxes, shipping them all over the world.  The company also sponsors its own pro team, which helps design and test products for the manufacturer.
