Nikkiso America Announces New VP of Sales & Marketing

Nikkiso (http://nikkisouvled.com/) is leading the commercialization of UV-LED technology worldwide. Since its foundation by Nobel Prize winning Professors Akasaki and Amano, it has continued to innovate by producing original technologies and products. “My responsibilities here are to launch the North and South America Sales effort for the ground breaking UV LED’s of Nikkiso that emit power between 255-340nm.  Applications range from the use in Analytical Instrumentation, Medical devices and systems that disinfect water, air and surfaces,” says Ruben.

Before joining Nikkiso America in December 2015, Ruben was the president of Heraeus Noblelight LLC, a subsidiary of the German Heraeus GmbH, a multi-billion dollar corporation. As president, his responsibilities included growing the market share of Heraeus Noblelight Specialty Lighting division, complete P & L responsibility for the North and South American market, and controlling a $25 million sales budget and 50 person group.

During Ruben’s time at Heraeus, he was able to increase sales from $4.7 million annually to over $21 million in 10 years. He also drove EBIT from a loss of $150k annually to a record $3.3 million EBT. He expanded the product portfolio of the company by concentrating on peripherals products to support the company’s core lamp business with items such as power supplies, reflectors and sockets. While his initial sales responsibility was for the US market only, it eventually expanded into Canada and Mexico, and later, South America.

Ruben worked at Philips Lighting Company, the biggest lighting company in the world. He was the Market Development Manager of the Specialty Lighting Group from 1981-2000. His responsibilities included determining the needs of the industrial commercial and OEM specialty lighting market, controlling a $25 million sales budget, and implementing sales and market strategies through innovative marketing programs.

Ruben earned his bachelor’s degree in management from Rider University in Lawrenceville, NJ. He also has an M.B.A. in Marketing, which he earned from Monmouth University, West Long Branch, NJ.
