(Newswire.net — April 7, 2016) — The latest issue of Men’s Essentials Magazine features a detailed interview of Maarten Van Nus, the creator of Motor Unit Stimulation Training (M.U.S.T.). John McDermott is a regular contributor to the magazine who also has a deep connection to the strength and bodybuilding industry, stretching back to the 1970’s. His interview with Van Nus provides a detailed overview of the training technique without getting overly technical or dry.

The article is titled: Workout Smarter Not Harder – For When the Shirt Comes Off.

McDermott notes early, “Maarten is one of those guys that other guys love to hate. You know, the ones who have the rippling biceps that look better than yours, even though he’s pushing 60.

“As in 60 years old. But the rascal doesn’t look anywhere close to sixty.”

“Yeah, he’s one of those guys,” he continues.

That’s enough to get readers attention, in and of itself, but then when they watch Van Nus working out in the accompanying videos, they notice something interesting and different. He’s using surprisingly light weights, but he’s focusing his mind through the entire movement and mentally and physically isolating each muscle in such a way as to utilize maximum leverage and mechanical advantage, rather than brute force or ‘cheating.’

“It’s in the lean, healthy muscle in a body that true health resides. It allows us to regain joint movement, to lose and keep off fat, to have greater and easier mobility and range of motion, and to reverse the look of aging” the article quotes Van Nus.

McDermott also highlights stunning examples of regular guys as well as semi-pro athletes who have worked with Van Nus utilizing his M.U.S.T. technique. “Maarten will tell you of guys he trains who aren’t using heavy weights at all in their workouts, yet have used his methods to recuperate from injuries and go back to jobs requiring some significantly brutal physical feats on a daily basis. For one, there’s a man who was debilitated for many years with injuries, yet after consistently training with no more than 15 pounds of resistance, he’s able to lift and toss around 240lb bales of wire at work. And others who were already at competition level but needed something different to bring out the final touches in their physiques.”

Van Nus says, “The key to my training technique is muscle targeting and proper form. I’m using much lighter weights than many who are less muscular than me but I look like I’m always in the gym pumping iron all day and night. People find it astounding that I look as strong as I do while apparently lifting so little.”

Maarten Van Nus founded BoomerBody in 2010 with a mission to provide exercise, health and lifestyle strategies for people of the Boomer generation.  Since 1975 Maarten has helped countless men & women regain strength and flexibility as well as rehab and heal painful conditions that doctors said were permanent. Maarten trains a variety of clients from housewives to top executives—from weekend gym warriors to semi-pro bodybuilders. He’s developed unique techniques that incorporate the mind as much as the muscles so that clients achieve their desired results on the outside, and more importantly, on the inside as well.
