Obama: We Will Defeat the Islamic State

(Newswire.net — April 7, 2016) —During a White House meeting with the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the combatant commanders, US President Barack Obama said that the fight against the Islamic State is still very difficult, but he expressed confidence in winning, reported the Associated Press.

 The President added that the extremist group continues to lose territories in their strongholds in Iraq and Syria and are in financial trouble.

 “We are going to squeeze them and we will defeat them,” Obama said at a White House dinner for the military leaders.

 Obama, his wife, Michelle and Vice President Joe Biden hosted the dinner on Tuesday.

 During the meeting, the U.S. President explained that he and the US military leaders will review a defense strategy and budget for the fight against the militants and the Islamic State.

 He emphasized that destroying the Islamic State group is his top priority, and that this is not just a military operation, it is an intelligence and diplomatic effort as well.

 Once again, he stressed that this is a difficult fight, a battle with the extremist group remains a difficult but he is sure that they will defeat them.

 Obama also added that this meeting is an opportunity for him to thank U.S. service members for their sacrifices.

 The last terrorist attacks were in Turkey and Belgium. Nearly 230 people were wounded in the terror attack on Brussels airport and metro station, on March 22nd. Before that, March 13th, a large explosion took place in the center of Ankara. It was the second attack in the Turkish capital in less than a month.

Europe is in fear, as is America and the rest of the world. Therefore, Barack Obama’s message during the meeting with the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the combatant commanders is that he believes that the victory over the Islamic State is very important.
