(Newswire.net — May 9, 2016) Marin County, Cal. — Erin Schrode, a 25-year-old running for Congress in California’s District 2, will be highlighted by the Women Rock Project (womenrockproject.com). The Women Rock Project was created to share women’s life experiences, to inspire, educate, and motivate. It recognises women for their various contributions to their fields and society, and is a place they can contribute their insights and secrets gained from their own lives. The Women Rock Project website shares biographies and video highlights to help women empower their lives, and to remember that everything changes, and all things are possible.

Erin Schrode has spent her life as a citizen activist, community organizer, and vocal advocate for environmental action, social justice, public health, and responsible consumption, and has just launched a campaign to run for US Congress in California’s District 2. If elected to public office, Erin would become the youngest woman voted into Congress.

Erin has been on the front lines of environmental and social justice around the world. Co-founding an environmental advocacy group, Turning Green, in 2005, she has developed education and social action platforms to inspire, educate, and mobilize the next generation in an effective manner. The group works to achieve solutions on everything from agriculture to green chemistry, from toxins in baby toys to food safety labeling, to carcinogens in everyday products.

Often working closely with businesses, corporations and organizations around the world, Erin consults on millennials, social consumption, digital tendencies and more, to better reach her generation, to drive positive impact and better business. When asked about running for congress, Erin stated that over the past few years, in her work, she has come up against broken policy over and over again, and is now ready to step into the role in California’s 2nd congressional district and make a difference. A passionate writer and public speaker, Erin will be recognized by the Women Rock Project for her quest to make an impact on society.

Erin has been featured in the NY Times, Vanity Fair, ABC, CNN, Seventeen Magazine, and various multimedia outlets. She has worked on launching a youth education project in Haiti, writing curriculum for an eco education center for Palestinian, Israeli, and Jordanian youth, on developing recycling infrastructure in Ghana, and recently has worked with Syrian, Iraqi, and Afghan refugees in the Mediterranean. This young entrepreneur is on a journey to ensure a thriving world for future generations while inspiring people of any age to turn passion into action. As The White House said, Erin “is a dynamic, passionate and ambitious young woman committed to creating big change everywhere she goes.”
