(Newswire.net — June 2, 2016) Lostock Hall, Preston — 19-year-old Bethany Jane Speight shows her support for the self-publishing revolution, with the release of her second novel, ‘Twenty Things’.
The rise of e-books in recent years has sparked a giant surge in the way of self-publishing, as thousands of authors take the reins and present their otherwise unheard of works to the masses. Whilst this has led some to believe that the standards of the publishing world may begin to slip, 19-year-old author Bethany Speight agrees that this craze has given her the huge break she never dreamed she would receive.
Speaking at a recent press conference, Preston-born Bethany Jane Speight stated: “The ease of self-publishing has given me the opportunity to get my name out there in a way that no other medium could. As a 19-year-old juggling my writing career with my college studies, I could never expect to be published under a huge, well known label – only because the pressures of applying, being accepted, and adhering to stringent deadlines would no doubt negatively affect my workflow.”
Speight continued to reveal that the flexibility of self-publishing has meant that her time can be better divided between her college studies and her writing career, without either having to face the consequences. “There may not be any strict editing processes I need to undertake before my work is released”, Speight concluded, “but I take on board every bit of feedback I can get my hands on, and I’m growing myself into a truly individual author because of that.”
After the huge success of her first novel, Speight’s ‘Twenty Things’ continues around the theme of young love and tumultuous relationships. Based around the characters of Nate and Malia, Speight’s work has been described as ‘exploring the themes of teenage life as no author has done before.”
Speight’s second novel is available to purchase online on Amazon.co.uk and Amazon.com in both e-book and paper-back formats.
