(Newswire.net — June 21, 2016) —According to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office, singer Alejandro Fuentes-Rosas died two days after he was shot on his 45th birthday in Brighton Park in Chicago last Thursday at 10:15pm. The shooting took place near the youth arts studio he directed.

Alejandro Fuentes-Rosas was shot in the head, said Cook County Office pathologist. He was celebrating his birthday with friends at his performing arts school, where he was attacked.

The killer approached the victim on the street, pulled out a handgun and ordered him to get out of his car, a red Audi. The police report indicates that the victim resisted prompting the attacker to fire several shots striking the singer in the head three times.

The attacker then ran a short distance away before eventually taking the vehicle, the Chicago police said in a statement. The singer was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital.

Initially they reported that the singer was dead on scene, but friends later said he was placed on life support until family members could arrive from Mexico, reported The Sun Times.

This is the second case in the past week where a contestant from The Voice was killed. Christina Victoria Grimmie, 22-year old, winner of The Voice, died in hospital after she was shot during an after-show autograph signing at The Plaza Live in Orlando.

Orlando police have identified the singer’s killer as 27 year-old Kevin James Loibl of St. Petersburg, Florida, also dead after fatally shooting himself.

The singer Alejandro Fuentes-Rosas appeared on Mexico’s The Voice in 2011. In 2013, he moved to Chicago from Guadalajara, and was working as a singer, songwriter and choreographer.

Alejandro taught art to students at Daley Elementary School in Back of the Yards. He also taught singing, dancing, acting and modeling at his musical school, Tras Bambalinas.
