(Newswire.net — July 25, 2016) —A teacher from Moore is facing a serious charge after allegedly performing oral sex on a student. Sandra Mayfield, 51, was seen with a 17 year-old boy, kissing and touching, as they drove around in Oklahoma City, police have said, and added that the incident was recorded on security cameras.

The alleged inappropriate relationship, which is said to have taken place in the back seat of Mayfield’s car on February 27th this year, was captured by CCTV.

The school administration found out about the incident in March, and immediately reported it to the police.

Moore Police Sergeant Jeremy Lewis explained that Sandra Mayfield and the 17 year-old student met at the school, drove around Oklahoma City, made a few stops, and ended up at Buck Thomas Park in Moore, later that night, where Mayfield performed oral sex on the student.

Sandra Mayfield was immediately suspended and not allowed to go near the boy. Law enforcement was also immediately contacted by the District.

Cleveland County District Attorney Greg Mashburn filed one count of forcible sodomy against Sandra Mayfield. Her trial is scheduled for July 28th.

She told local media that she denies abusing the boy, but confirmed that there was oral sex.

Police have interviewed the teenager and his story is said to match what investigators saw on CCTV, reports The Daily Mail.

The school board said in a statement in March that Moore Public Schools place the safety and welfare of their students ahead of any other interests, and will continue to take necessary steps to safeguard their emotional, physical, and educational well-being.

The school added in a statement that the charges filed against Mayfield are shocking and upsetting, and are not representative of the hundreds of other teachers who work hard every day to provide safe and quality education for the students in the Moore Public School District.

“We will continue to cooperate with the police department and District Attorney’s office”, the school board said in a statement.
