(Newswire.net — July 25, 2016) Locust Valley, NY — America’s wild horses are an important aspect of the native habitats in North America.  Will Strongheart, an actor, singer, and activist, is especially passionate about the role horses play in restoring and maintaining rangelands in the United States.  In an effort to help restore ecological balance to the country, he has lent his considerable talents to the CANA Foundation, an organization dedicated to protect and preserve wild horse populations through sustainable rewilding initiatives.  Will’s role in the organization is one of leadership; he is vital in helping CANA deliver its messages to others through artistic expression. “Will’s cultural heritage and his love for wild horses are a perfect fit for our group,” says a spokesperson for the non-profit Foundation. “His creativity helps bring communities together, giving them one powerful voice.”  To learn more about Will’s work and his background, visit http://nativewarriors.co/2016/05/meet-native-actor-will-rayne-strongheart-beautiful-proud-ojibway-man/.

Will is a member of the Keeseekoose First Nation in Saskatchewan, Canada, possessing Ojibwe and Lakota heritages. He attended Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibwe Community College in Wisconsin, where he concentrated on Native American studies and the Ojibwe language. His life is artistically rooted, and he has traveled throughout North America performing music and acting. With his hip-hop group REDDNATION, Will has shared his rap writing with enthusiastic audiences around the country.  His love and understanding for horses came as a part of his acting debut, when he was tapped to portray Tashunka Witco – Crazy Horse – on “The American West” on the AMC cable channel.  On set, Will developed an inseparable bond between himself and Skip, the horse he rode as part of the production. “Skip and I connected deeply during filming,” says Will.  “My trust and admiration for him helped to understand the horse nation’s true relationship with humans.”

The CANA Foundation works diligently to support the role wild horses play in healthy ecosystems across North America.  The organization has been instrumental in supporting youth programs, therapeutic centers, and environmental learning projects for Native communities and anyone else interested in cultural understanding. Their pilot project has been to restore horses to Native lands as a means of naturally rejuvenating the lands’ resources. Will works closely with the leaders of the group, spreading the organization’s message through song and personal appearances in the United States and Canada.
