(Newswire.net — August 16, 2016) –Organizational psychologist, senior consultant to executives and management, diversity specialist and author, Dr. Adams helps create diverse and inclusive work environments.

Gender, age and race are just three of the many differences, as well as physical abilities, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, ethnicity, education, work experience, and more, that comprise diverse dimensions of human beings. How we describe ourselves, our appearance, and beliefs, make up the visible and hidden components of our identities.

Dr. Adams is a workforce diversity and inclusion expert, with experience in healthcare, technology, and education. The founder of GAR (Gender, Age, Race) Diversity Consulting, LLC., Dr Adams has been helping companies with diversity and inclusion, creating strategies for change for more than twenty years.

Dr. Adams helps organizations create and sustain inclusive work environments by maximizing the value that differences in people bring to the workplace. Inclusive and diverse teams consistently outperform similar teams. Inclusive diversity is an advantage in business, but is difficult to attain.

As the former National Diversity and Inclusion office at Kaiser Permanente, the largest non-profit, integrated managed care system in the United States, Dr. Adams was responsible for developing inclusive leadership, execution of unconscious bias learning solutions to a group of over 175,000 workers, and the design of a virtual leadership academy for multicultural business resource groups. Kaiser Permanente is ranked #1 in the DiversityInc Top 50 companies. Prior to joining Kaiser Permanente in 2006, Dr. Adams worked as a global management and technology consultant with American Management Systems, Inc for 10 years.

Dr. Adams’ forthcoming book, Women, Minorities, and Other Extraordinary People: Solutions to the Diversity Crisis in Technology & Beyond (2017) discusses how people are hard-wired to prefer the company of those who look and sound like them, as well as share similar interests, experiences, and values, something that is referred to as unconscious biases.  The differences that form the basis of bias are described as both the visible, race, gender, age, etc., as well as the invisible – beliefs, perspectives, sexual orientation, family status, and so forth.  In her book, Dr. Adams explains that developing and sustaining a diverse and inclusive workplace is not only possible, but highly desirable to position a business for success today, and especially in the coming years.
