( — August 16, 2016) Williamsville, NY — Dr. Roger Firestien, Senior Faculty member at the International Center for Studies in Creativity at SUNY – Buffalo State, author and international creativity consultant, will present a workshop entitled “Creativity For Finance Majors” as part of the Finance Academy at the University at Buffalo. The workshop will take place on August 19, 2016 at the Crossroads Culinary Center at the University at Buffalo’s North Campus. LeaderCORE™ sponsors the workshop, which is part of the University at Buffalo School of Management.

The workshop will introduce students to techniques that will help them become deliberately creative so that they can turn on their creativity at will instead of waiting for ideas to happen.  Students will practice methods to help them increase collaboration, innovate more effectively in teams and reduce the time it takes to solve problems, capitalize on opportunities, invent and create.

Particularly with subjects like Finance, creativity may not appear to be of much help, but can prove to be very beneficial with the right tactics. According to Dr. Firestien, every student should be proactively utilizing creativity. In school environments, much like the workplace, innovation and creativity can boost productivity and quality work.

Dr. Firestien is no stranger to speaking to students on the benefits of creativity. In March of 2016, Firestien provided the keynote address at the Innovation Challenge ’16 Awards at North Dakota State University, where the top creative minds at the university competed in innovation challenges. In June of 2016, he presented “Unleashing Your Creative Power” and the Fellowships of the Spirit Lakeside Retreat Center. Additionally, he is known to regularly speak and hold meetings for students on campus at SUNY – Buffalo State.
