(Newswire.net — October 7, 2016) —New York is, along with Paris and Milan, the fashion capital of the world. New York Fashion week is one of the most visited events.
Hundreds of designers and fashion brands display their collections at the prestigious fashion event every year, as was the case this year, from the 8th to 14th September.
Every fashion show is a little performance, every runway is noteworthy, but the Bata Spasojevic show on Broadway in Gotham Hall, is an event people will keep talking about.
The famous fashion designer from Serbia, Europe, showed his male and female collection for spring and summer 2017, named “Body & Soul”. The collection included silk, leather and denim fabrics. The collection was inspired by the famous Serbian model, Tamara Bakic.
“Despite her age (82) Tamara is still trendy and always perfectly dressed. If you did not know how old this lady is, you would never be able to guess by her appearance, attitude, speed and energy. That is why the name of the collection is Body & Soul, it warns us to constantly cherish and develop the mind and body”, explained Bata Spasojevic after his fashion show in Gotham Hall, during prime-time, with more than 30 models.
Tamara Bakic was among the models on the catwalk on Broadway. She walked gracefully and looked elegant in a punk-rock Bata Spasojevic design, and completely embodied the extravagant futurism.
She showed that the catwalk is not just for young women, and that beauty knows no age.
The audience enthusiastically watched the fashion diva and led her off stage with applause. It was a rare opportunity to see a lady who carries her years with style.
Tamara was a fashion model from the age of 24. During her successful career, she worked for the biggest names in world fashion scene. In Serbia, she founded the Association of Models. Tamara Bakic fought for modeling to be a job like any other, for girls to have insurance and pensions later.
This is not the first time that Tamara Bakic has done a show in New York, during her career as model she toured the whole world, but this is the first time that a designer chose the lady of 82 years to be the guest of honor, and to close the final defile.
This is also not the first time that Bata Spasojevic showed his fashion creations during the New York Fashion Week.
“In July this year, I was invited to participate in a top fashion event in September during New York Fashion Week. The call came from Ankit Rauniyar, creative director of the ‘Elucidate’ magazine. They saw my performance at the February Fashion Week in New York, they were enthusiastic about my work and wanted to show my collection at the World Fashion Parade, an event that promotes world peace and the protection of women’s rights”, said Bata Spasojevic.
The event took place on September 25th and lasted all day. Designers from around the world participated and it was highly visited.
“Audiences in New York are fantastic, and the reaction of the public was visibly different from Europe. They are more open-minded. If they like something, they immediately comment aloud and show their feelings, without any brakes, without acting”, Bata Spasojevic told Newswire about his impressions, and added:
“New York is a city that won me with its energy since my first visit in 2011. Fabulous architecture, energy, emotion, people from all over the world. This is a city that gives you a chance, opens you up to challenges. If you have the qualities, New York will recognize that and immediately will give you a chance. I love New York because it is an open city for all. My fashion style fits easily into the energy of New York, which is often my inspiration and I often have the feeling that I belong here.”
The fashion designer told Newswire that he is planning to be constantly present in New York through the process of selling his collection.
“To buy clothes online is one thing, but to try it on and get the thrill when you see how it looks on you, is something completely different”, explained Bata Spasojevic to Newswire.
If you missed Bata’s runaway this September, you will have another chance to see his fashion during the Men’s Fashion Week in February 2017 in New York.
