(Newswire.net — November 2, 2016) Gilbert, Arizona –Dr. Patricia Pivonka, an experienced chiropractor in Gilbert, Arizona, is pleased to announce she is now SEAS (Scientific Exercises Approach to Scoliosis) certified after an intensive course in Boulder, Colorada from September 30th through October 2nd, 2016. The latest advanced certification will help add to her already impressive list of non-surgical scoliosis treatment options.   The program was attended by other industry professionals and specialists and was one of the largest events of its type ever seen in Colorado.

The SEAS certification is the latest in a long line of certifications held by Dr. Pivonka, she is also certified in advanced CBP, ScoliBrace, SpineCor Brace and more, and specializes in scoliosis treatment. The SEAS award, awarded by ISICO (Istituto Scientifico Italiano Colonna Vertebralle), is an Italian network that treats spine conditions. The certification course included many different modules, on such topics as self-correction, stabilization exercises that improve balance and neuromuscular control while at the same time emphasizing a cognitive-behavioral approach between patients and their families to improve results.

SEAS teaches how to personalize scoliosis treatment programs to each individual patient that fits their needs. This provides them with specialized care and helps to speed up recovery times. The exercises taught in the program help to increase a patient’s awareness of their condition and provides them with useful tips that they can use when they have left the clinic.

With so many patients worried about having invasive surgery for their scoliosis, the SEAS method takes a different approach. The exercises help to fix or improve the spine slowly over time and incorporate various corrective techniques that benefit each patient. This course focuses on posture, the back and the spine, and on cognitive behavioral therapies, too.

ABOUT DR. PIVONKA

Dr. Patricia L. Pivonka, D.C., Scoliosis Doctor, became interested in becoming a Doctor of Chiropractic after her own life-changing experience while playing volleyball at Colorado State University. Mid-season during her Junior year she developed severe pain in her middle back along the right side of her spine. The team Doctors assumed is was a muscle strain and prescribed ibuprofen and electric stimulation. At one point Pivonka was taking 16 ibuprofen-per-day for the pain. She was sent for all types of treatment but nothing seemed to work. Every time she tried to play, her back would go into spasms and cause her tremendous pain. She was afraid she would lose her athletic scholarship.

Eventually, a friend suggested that Patty see her husband, a Chiropractor in Denver. Dr. Jackson examined Patty and on that very same day he showed her the problem on her x-rays. She had a misalignment in her lower back and the pain in her mid back was just a compensation for the problem below. Dr. Jackson adjusted Patty twice over two weekends and she was back in the starting line up. That same year the Lady Rams broke into the top 10 in the nation. Her personal experience led her into chiropractic where she felt she could help others find the cause of their problem and enjoy a healthy, active lifestyle. She went on to become a Doctor of Chiropractic graduating Cum Laude from LIFE Chiropractic College, Marietta Georgia in June of 1993.

ABOUT CORRECT SCOLIOSIS

At CorrectScoliosis, patients are greeted with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Dr. Pivonka will assess their condition and provide a tailored, specialized program. CorrectScoliosis offer a wide range of treatments for patients with this condition. These include braces, rehabilitation, and the Scoliosis Boot Camp; an advanced treatment for patients to want to reduce the curvature in their spine over a short period of time. The Boot Camp helps people who have a curve in their spine that ranges between 15 and 25 degrees (and aren’t showing signs of the condition becoming worse) and could reduce curvature in as little as two to three weeks, in both children and adults.

ABOUT SCOLIOSIS

While scoliosis affects only about three percent of the population, there are different types of scoliosis.  Scoliosis can vary in severity, and can increase dramatically during puberty. Early detection is important, and once detected a treatment plan is suggested.  While many people with scoliosis are asymptomatic, some patients will experience pain as the curvature of their spine gets worse, and will need to have treatment, such as a brace, to correct the problem.

Dr. Pivonka understands the stigma of scoliosis. It’s something that people don’t want to talk about; or really do not know that much about. For some people, the problem can become so severe that the curvature in their spine becomes noticeable to others, resulting in embarrassment. However, she ensures that new patients feel calm when they walk into the Correct Scoliosis clinic for the first time. She is determined to solve the problem using non-invasive and non-surgical means.
