(Newswire.net — November 25, 2016) —Alexandria Vera, twenty four years old from Houston, Texas, admitted in court that she had sexual relations with an underage student, who was thirteen years old at the time.
The eighth grade English teacher from Stovall Middle School explained that they are in love.
She told the Aldine Independent School District police officer that the relationship began during summer school last year, where he was a student of hers, reports The Daily Mail.
According to police documents, Vera fell pregnant in January. She already has one child, but she decided to have an abortion this time.
At first, the teacher and the boy exchanged text messages and flirting, and then they kissed in the teacher’s car.
Their first sexual encounter happened after Vera went to drop the child off, but his parents were not home. After that, they had sex almost every day, sometimes in the boy’s home, sometimes in the teacher’s apartment.
They didn’t keep their relationship a secret, not even at school. One student told Eyewitness News that the student grabbed her butt and everybody saw it.
The teacher said that the boy’s parents also knew about their relationship, and Vera allegedly came to family gatherings and was presented as his girlfriend.
They supported the relationship and were excited about the baby, the teacher said.
Court documents also show that the boy’s parents didn’t object to their relationship. They were very supportive and excited when she disclosed she was pregnant, Vera said in court. But she decided to get abortion after a child welfare investigator questioned her and school officials dismissed her.
The police did not get a chance to arrest her because she had gone on the run, but authorities have confirmed that she has turned herself in to the Montgomery County police.
Alexandria Vera faces charges of continuous sexual abuse of a child, and is facing possible imprisonment for 30 years.
The boy, who is now fourteen years old, has been placed in a foster home until August 2017. The boys parents will have to go to parenting classes and therapy.
