(Newswire.net — December 24, 2016) — Fort Worth, Texas –  When a police officer arrests a black woman, it most likely wouldn’t be a news story. However, a state of turmoil was created when Jacqueline Craig, a 46-year-old black woman, was filmed getting arrested by a police officer whom she called to protect her own rights.

Craig’s relative broadcasted the whole incident on the internet, with the video instantly going viral.

It was viewed by more than a million people and questions were raised. Some have raised questions about the racial and biased police force, but some supported the Texas police officer who has been placed on restricted duty after the incident.

Mrs. Craig had called police claiming her seven-year-old son was assaulted by a neighbor for littering. She told the police officer who arrived at the scene that the neighbor assaulted her son by grabbing his neck.

The police officer, identified as “Martin” in the video, started lecturing her about teaching her son not to litter. A relative of Craig recorded the encounter with the police via Facebook Live.

“My son is seven years old,” Mrs. Craig tried to explain to the police officer to justify the fact her son threw paper around and to explain that his childish misdemeanor doesn’t give anyone the right to to attack him.

“You don’t have the right to grab him, choke him behind no paper that he threw … don’t put your hands on my son”, Mrs. Craig yelled.

“Why not?” the officer replied.

One of Mrs. Craig’s daughters tried to push her mother away while the officer threatened to arrest her if she kept yelling at him.

The officer eventually pulled his taser and apprehended the 15-year-old Porsha along with her mother and Craig’s relative who live-streamed the incident.

The Fort Worth Police Department said its Internal Affairs Unit had begun an investigation into the matter, not disclosing the officer’s name.

“We acknowledge that the initial appearance of the video may raise serious questions,” the department said in a press release.

“We ask that our investigators are given the time and opportunity to thoroughly examine this incident and to submit their findings,” the department stated urging the community for “patience and calm during this investigation process.”

The Caucasian neighbor who attacked the child was not arrested.
