(Newswire.net — January 9, 2017) —74th Golden Globe Awards were held Sunday night at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California.

“La La Land” broke the record for most Golden Globe wins. A romantic musical, starring Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone, swept all seven of the categories in which it was nominated: best musical, best actor (Ryan Gosling), best actress (Emma Stone), director (Damien Chazelle), screenplay (Damien Chazelle), original score (Justin Hurwitz) and original song (City of Stars).

The winner of the best drama category is “Moonlight”, the best animated film is “Zootopia”, and the best foreign language film is “Elle” (France).

Meryl Strip received the Cecil B. DeMille lifetime achievement award. In her emotional speech, the 67-year-old actress sent a stern message to the newly elected president of the United States, Mr. Donald Trump. She used almost the entire speech to criticize his behavior and policies.

The three-time Oscar winner ended her speech with a memory of her dear friend, actress Carrie Fisher, who died in December 2016.

“As my friend, the dear departed Princess Leia, said to me once, ‘Take your broken heart and make it into art’,” Meryl Streep concluded her speech with a strong emotion in her voice.
