(Newswire.net — January 20, 2017) — Washington, DC – A day prior Trump’s inauguration, the president-elect said his cabinet members have the highest IQ of any cabinet ever assembled.

While holding a speech at congressional leadership luncheon inside his International Hotel on Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington, DC, Trump first paid a compliment to himself.

“Where is this? This is a gorgeous room. A total genius must have built this,” Trump started off by complimenting the setting.

While his voice tone revealed he was joking, Trump was confident when he said his cabinet picks have the highest IQ.

“We have a lot of smart people. I tell you what. One thing we’ve learned we have by far the highest IQ of any Cabinet ever assembled,” Trump said as he complimented his cabinet nominees.

Trump singled out several of his cabinet members, including attorney general nominee, Senator Jeff Sessions (R-Alabama) and New York Jets owner, Woody Johnson, indicating he will probably be appointed as the next US ambassador to the United Kingdom.

President-elect Trump also mentioned his treasury secretary nominee, Steven Mnuchin, and House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wisconsin), who Trump joked was “out writing legislation because he’s got so much legislation to write.”

Pointing out his education secretary nominee, Betsy DeVos, Trump emphasized the growing education problems in the US.

“So, we’re number one in the world in cost per pupil–number one in the world, and we’re ranked number 18 in the world,” Trump said, stressing out that there are charts whose statistics is even more discouraging.

“18 is–that’s on a good day, Betsy–I saw one the other day where we’re 28 out of 30. 28 out of 30!”, Trump said.

There is no way of immediately verifying Trump’s claims about his cabinet’s IQ, however, it is easy to compare their education to that of the prior cabinet.

While President Barack Obama’s current secretary of education, John King, Jr., has degrees from Harvard, Columbia, and Yale, Trump’s pick, Betsy DeVos, holds a Bachelor’s degree from Calvin College.

Obama’s first secretary of energy, Steven Chu, was a Nobel Prize winning physicist, and his successor, Ernest Moniz, was the head of the physics department at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Trump’s energy secretary nominee, Rick Perry, had straight C’s in Physics and an F in Organic Chemistry at Texas A&M.

Trump often brags about how he graduated first in his class from the prestigious Ivy League Wharton School of Business, and how great his mind is.

“Sorry losers and haters, but my I.Q. is one of the highest -and you all know it! Please don’t feel so stupid or insecure, it’s not your fault”, Trump tweeted in 2013.

Newsweek reporter, Kurt Eichenwald, however, disputes Trump’s claims reporting that president-elect lied about having an MBA from the prestigious business school.
