Sleep Disordered Breathing Free Seminar

(Newswire.net — January 23, 2017) Flower Mound, TEXAS — Mark Levy, DDS, announced today that they are sponsoring a free seminar discussing sleep disordered breathing in children on February 8, 2017. The seminar will be held at the Hilliard Public Library from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm. The Hilliard Library is located at 4772 Cemetery Road in Hilliard. Dr. Levy will be providing information to parents, including what symptoms a parent can look for and how to best treat the disorder.

“In many cases, children do not get the proper diagnosis, which leads to many more issues down the line,” said Levy when asked why he volunteered to sponsor the seminar. Dr. Levy is a member of The American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine and American Association of Sleep Medicine.

What is Sleep Disordered Breathing?

Sleep Disordered Breathing, also called SDB affects nine out of ten chicldren. SDB is general term for breathing issues that range from from mild snoring to extremely severe airway obstruction. When a child’s breathing and sleep is disrupted, his or her body treats the issue much like choking. That means that the child’s heart rate will slow, their blood pressure will rise and the brain will be stimulated. This ultimately disrupts the childs sleep.
