(Newswire.net — February 3, 2017) Windham, Maine — Doug Jones, of Ergonomic Handling Group Inc. is pleased to announce a new product to the North American market, the powered hospital bed mover. The company specializes in motorized moving equipment and this one is designed to help hospitals and other medical facilities move beds to different areas with ease.
We started by asking Mr. Jones why powered bed movers are necessary in the first place when hospital beds come equipped with wheels and here is what he told us. “The wheels allow a staff member to move the beds by hand, but that is only really safe to do when you are repositioning a bed over a small distance, such as within the room. If you want to go to another room, floor or even an entirely separate wing of the hospital, the risk of injury to the staff from manually pushing and pulling the beds increases substantially. It can take two people to manually move the bed especially over long distances, and you have to remember that these beds are large and heavy – the average hospital bed weighs between 450lbs and 650lbs. Their weight and size present a safety risk to the staff. Our powered bed mover makes transporting them much easier and safer, allowing one employee to complete the move much faster and in eliminating the risk of sprains and strains associated with manhandling the beds.”
He also explained to us that their bed movers are very easy to use – the bed can be hooked and moved within seconds. There is no special training needed to use the equipment and any employee in the medical facility can use it. “All you need to do is press a button for the grippers to open, put the machine in place at the foot of the bed, press the button and the grippers get hold of the bed. You can then control the use of the bed using a joystick.”
We asked Mr. Jones to tell us a bit more about Ergonomic Handling Group. He told us that they specialize in material handling solutions. “Many businesses have a hard time finding specialized equipment to move items within their operations. If they do manage to find it, they often discover that it is too expensive for their environment or application. They end up using standard equipment that reduces efficiency and causes damage and increased risk of injury. Our mission is to provide custom equipment at prices that businesses, even small ones, can afford”, he explained.
In addition to that the company provides walkie stackers and custom lifts, powered tugger carts and dollies, all-terrain pallet jacks and trucks, vacuum lift systems, forklift attachments and replacement forks, industrial cranes, forklifts and pallet scales, industrial lift truck and forklift batteries and power handling roll movers.
