CRS Adds New Services to Support Local Contractors

(Newswire.net — March 20, 2017) Tampa, FL — Beyond simply construction and licensing agencies that require applications to have a fingerprint background check performed as part of the process, other professions such as real estate and nursing also require the checks. Contractors Reporting Services, a company based in Tampa, Florida that focuses on helping construction industry professionals with obtaining and renewing their professional licenses will provide the service for anyone who needs a Level 2 background check at the state or federal level, for any reason.

To provide the service, the FL contractor license company has partnered with Fast Fingerprints of Florida, and it is a completely digital system — called LiveScan, there is no ink involved, and all of the documentation and permissions is all done electronically. This means that, in most cases, the results can be provided to the requesting company within 2-5 days.

“This is a pretty neat service,” said Roman Albano, License Consultant, Contractors Reporting Services. “It is a pretty simple process, and you get very fast results. We had a lot of our clients requesting that we add this to our list of services, so I am incredibly pleased about this partnership.”

In addition to fingerprinting, CRS has also added system called Simple File to their lineup, allowing them to easily manage Notice of Commencement and Lien paperwork for any licensed general contractor or subcontractor.

In Florida law, contractors are required to file a Notice of Commencement for any construction job worth more than $2,500, or HVAC work worth more than $7,500, that details the type of work that will be done, as well as the time frame within which the work will be completed. Contractors Reporting Services can now help contractors manage that process, and file those notices automatically, freeing them up to focus on the work itself.

In addition, after a job is done, if a contractor or subcontractor has not been paid in a timely fashion for the services provided, they are allowed to file a lien against the property. This allows them to recoup the fees once the property is sold. CRS will now work with general contractors and subcontractors to send and manage these liens on their behalf, again freeing them up to focus on getting back to the job.

“Most of the time, when this situation arises, everyone involved wants to clear it up quickly,” noted Albano. “If a contractor hasn’t been paid — or worse if a subcontractor hasn’t been paid — it could lead to lawsuits and even having a license pulled. It is in everyone’s best interests to resolve disputes quickly and amicably, and at Contractors Reporting Services, our goal is to help them do just that.”
