(Newswire.net — March 29, 2017) Orlando, FL — Arthritis affects millions of people from around the world, especially in the United States. There are those who suffer from neck pain, which can result from the aging process. There are certain remedies believed to be helpful for the condition.

Experts reveal strengthening is better than stretching for easing neck pain. As people age, the degeneration of the cervical vertebrae usually develops. Neck pain usually occurs from decades of holding up the head, which is usually about 8 to 10 pounds.

There is a serious number of people who have degenerating vertebrae. However, there are some who suffer from cervical arthritis. This condition takes place when the joints located at the cervical vertebrae gets damaged through erosion linked with arthritis or by injury.

There are certain symptoms of neck arthritis such as muscle weakness, chronic pain, stiffness, numbness, loss of balance, and headaches.

According to researchers, there are simple exercises that can provide significant pain relief regardless of the cause of the pain.

Researchers from the controlled, randomized at Punkaharju Rehabilitation Center in Finland investigate how efficient is strength training in the neck compared with no exercise or stretching.

The participants of the study were 180 women who belonged to 25 to 53 years of age, had chronic neck pain, and did office work.

The results of the study reveal that strength-training exercises are efficient in relieving neck pain. It was found that the pain relief was considerable or complete in up to three-quarters of the women involved in the study.

A year after the study, women who participated maintained the improvement in neck strength. Their ability to look up, sideways, and down also significantly improved 10 times better than those in the control group.

Jari Ylinen, lead researcher, reveals that previously the emphasis has been on stretching exercises. However, according to the study, their effectiveness is inadequate or poor for chronic neck pain. He also added that stretching should be combined with shoulder muscle and strengthening neck exercises.

Today, many arthritis sufferers turn to the use of pharmaceutical drugs that are formulated to provide pain relief.  While these medications appear helpful, they cause side effects.

There are safer alternatives such as glucosamine supplements. Glucosamine is believed to repair cartilage damage and improved overall joint health. This powerful joint health supplement does not cause side effects, which make it even more popular.

One of the most popular glucosamine supplements contains methylsulfonylmethane (MSM), which is believed to fight arthritis pain and inflammation (http://amazon.com/Glucosamine-Sulfate-Supplement-2000mg-serving/dp/B0126ZF0B0/).
