(Newswire.net — April 12, 2017) Orlando, FL — Aging is a process that many people see as an opportunity not available for everyone. However, it carries along certain disadvantages.

Fractures increase the risk of premature death in older people. It is undeniable that the aging process exposes individuals to a variety of risks, such as the development of medical conditions or bone health deterioration.

According to a new study at the American College of Rheumatology Annual Meeting in San Francisco, certain fractures caused by osteoporosis can result in premature death in individuals who are 45 and older.

The common condition called osteoporosis is characterized by bone weakening. It affects both women and men, especially when they grow older. Some of the causes of osteoporosis are loss of bone mass and a change in bone structure.

There are people who are more prone to the condition such as older women, particularly Asian and non-Hispanic white women.

In the United States, there are around 0.8 million men and 4.5 million women over the age of 50 who suffer from osteoporosis. Some of the risk factors of the condition are the use of glucocorticoids, sedentary lifestyle, inflammatory arthritis, and smoking.

This condition can increase the risk of fractures and falls. As a matter of fact, osteoporosis has been an increasing concern of the aging population.

Lyn March, MD, PhD, states that for some time, doctors have already known that a hip fracture in older individuals increases mortality risk within one to two years after the fracture. However, they have not been aware of the increased risk linked with other fractures.

Dr. March is the University of Sydney Liggins Professor of Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal Epidemiology at Kolling Institute of Bone and Joint Research and Sydney’s Royal North Shore Hospital.

According to statistics, one-third of all deaths related to falls have been attributed to low bone density.

For individuals who suffer from the consequences of the aging process, it can be extremely difficult to live and function normally on a daily basis.

There are those who are prone to fractures due to conditions other than osteoporosis, such as arthritis. This painful and debilitating condition is extremely common among individuals who suffer from the aging process.

In the United States, there are millions of people who suffer from arthritis. There are those who turn to the use of natural remedies such as glucosamine, which is a naturally-occurring substance in the body.

Glucosamine supplements that contain methylsulfonylmethane (MSM) are extremely popular nowadays. There are those who turn to the use of this natural remedy to achieve pain relief without being exposed to side effects (www.amazon.com/Glucosamine-Sulfate-Supplement-2000mg-serving/dp/B0126ZF0B0/).
