(Newswire.net — May 6, 2017) Orlando, FL — When it comes to arthritic conditions, osteoarthritis has been widely known to many people and is the most common arthritic condition in the United States. While it is highly prevalent, there hasn’t been any cure yet for the condition.

A body clock research study may potentially lead to the discovery of osteoarthritis treatment. Today, individuals who suffer from osteoarthritis usually resort to pain management options, such as glucosamine or nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).

A biologist from the University of Manchester reveals a finding which has been established for the first time. It was discovered that debilitating and painful symptoms suffered by individuals with osteoarthritis are fundamentally associated with the human body clock.

Dr. Qing-Jun Meng, spearheaded the study and is a Senior Research Fellow for Arthritis Research UK. According to Dr. Qing-Jun Meng, the findings of the study could potentially pave the way for a pharmaceutical drug that could treat the joint condition.

Osteoarthritis affects 8 million people in the United Kingdom. The study was jointly funded by the Medical Research Council (MRC) and Arthritis Research UK. It has been published in the Journal of Clinical Investigation.

Dr. Meng reveals that despite the ultimate efforts of scientists and doctors, the understanding about arthritis continues to be poor. Unfortunately, pain management is the only available option for sufferers, and this includes the use of medications, natural alternatives, and joint replacement surgery.

Dr. Meng also states that chondrocytes, which are body clocks within the cartilage cells, control thousands of genes. These genes segregate various biological activities at different times of the day.

The body clock is believed to control the equilibrium during the time of rest, when repair is taking place in chondrocyte cells and when these cells are damaged during an activity.

The research study also revealed that as people age, their cartilage cell body clocks tend to deteriorate. Thus, it leads to the insufficiency of the repair function, which usually contributes to the development of osteoarthritis.

Osteoarthritis can be an extremely difficult condition to live with on a daily basis. There are many who turn to the use of pain medications, such as NSAIDs, to improve their pain and mobility.

While NSAIDs are popular, there are also other natural options available that many arthritis sufferers believe to be safer to use. Glucosamine does not cause side effects such as those that may be linked with the use of pain medications.

Glucosamine is popularized by its high potential to help repair damaged cartilage and possible ability to enhance overall joint health.
