Opportunity/Need for Brigantine NJ Website Design

Analyzing the current business environment and growth opportunities in Brigantine New Jersey

Brigantine NJ is a beach town at the Jersey Shore, close to the better known town of Atlantic City. In 2014, the population in Brigantine, NJ was recorded at just under 10,000 people, but that number skyrockets in May, June, July, and August as summer guests and vacationers flock to the beautiful island for some sand and sun.

Unfortunately, all but one of the Brigantine NJ business websites are a poor representation of the products and services offered there. What many people don’t realize is that just having a website online is not enough, and often poorly designed websites hurt the image of the business. If you want to open a business or grow an existing company in Brigantine NJ, make website design and digital marketing a priority right away!

Out of ALL of the local business websites currently found in Brigantine NJ, there is only one website that doesn’t get a failing grade. This is extraordinarily alarming. When even the best websites we can find in a town earn scores of straight F’s across the board in every category, there is a problem. We are used to seeing poor-quality websites in the resort towns of New Jersey (and other states). It’s the nature of the business I suppose. Perhaps the business owners feel they don’t make enough money to build a quality website. On the other hand, perhaps they don’t have enough money because they have such poor websites?  Just a thought.

Best Examples of Brigantine NJ Website Design

1. Jeffrey R. Delson, DDS, PA –  http://www.jeffdelsondds.com/

Numerical Score: 75/100 C

This site is well designed and professional. There are plenty of very good photos and lots of useful information. The site should serve the patients of Jeff Delson very well. I can’t say I’m a fan of how they handled the menu, but again, the site is solid and the rest of the websites in Brigantine are so awful I have to cut this website a little additional slack.

Now for a bit of bad news for Dr. Delson, this website is a template website provided by Officite. They specialize in websites for medical practices. As such, they do a very good job for local companies on the PUBLIC side of things. However, all of the photos and content is duplicated for dozens, perhaps even hundreds of other websites across the country. As such, Google will heavily penalize this website for containing duplicate content. That is a very bad thing. Ultimately, this will hurt their ability to attract new website traffic. What makes it worse is that it is clear to me that Dr. Delson is paying them not only for the website but for online marketing as well. Look at the blog – this is not unique to Brigantine, this same content is posted to websites all over the country. Dr. Delson is paying extra to be penalized by Google. If anyone knows Dr. Delson – they should tell him to read this article! He is wasting his money!

2. Primal Surf – http://www.psurf.com

Numerical Score: 44/100 F

This website scored very poorly because it is missing a number of important items. It’s not the worst website we’ve ever seen. It is on the “best” list after all. Here are just a few really obvious items that could drastically improve this website with not a lot of effort. First, we need to get a professional photographer out here to take some great photos. It’s so easy for a surf shop! Second, let’s get that blog updated. The last article is from May of 2015.  That’s just embarrassing.   Let’s get some testimonials on the home page to let everyone know you’ve actually had satisfied customers in the past. The ABOUT US page is like 4 sentences long with a small photo. Let’s take some pride of ownership and put a little effort into this thing! There are several “pro tips” we would like to make but the website looks like it was made by the owner’s kids or something. Hire a professional web designer. I’m sure it’ll make a big difference.

3. Kenny’s Auto Center – http://www.kennysauto08203.com

Numerical Score: 43/100 F

On the bright side, the site is clean and without errors. However, the site is not responsive so it doesn’t work very well with mobile devices. The site is missing all forms of social proof. No testimonials, no ratings, no logos of certifications or partners. The site simply falls flat. An excellent example of this is on the WHY KENNY’S page. The information they cite is actually fairly compelling. I’m not sure why they chose to “hide” that fact. Let’s get some icons next to each item, a short list with check marks or something to give these points some power and create some visual interest. I don’t know if every auto center offers these types of guarantees and service … but it strikes me they may be a differentiator, yet they hid them in 2 short, boring sentences. The website is lacking all of the key elements Google is looking for to rank a website. If they have competitors in Brigantine, they are definitely going to want to address this issue.

4. Casale al Mare –  http://casalealmarenj.com

Numerical Score: 41/100 F

The fundamental thing we need to know when we “find” a website online is to understand “what this website is”. I thought this was a website for an Italian Restaurant. I realized quickly that it wasn’t … but then, what is it? Is it an Italian market? Then I read the first sentence “Imagine yourself savoring a leisurely Italian Meal …”. Oh, wait … it IS an Italian restaurant! … umm no. What I do know for sure is that it is just a short drive from Atlantic City and Egg Harbor Township. Very poor messaging! <sigh> do I rip everything? … or do I just point out the most obvious issues? I don’t want to be mean … but seriously? I hope they didn’t pay for this hot mess. Oh … ha! It’s Town Square Media! I should have known. It’s really not worth listing all the issues or even the most obvious issues. The site is weak in every way. Sadly, it is still better than most of the websites in Brigantine. :–(

High Potential Examples of Brigantine NJ Website Design

There are a lot of websites that kind of fall in the middle. They’re not good, but they could be worse. Most of these “high potential” website design examples are placed in this category because they scored low on our evaluation, but the businesses themselves are so awesome that we see a huge opportunity. Here are the websites that we found in Brigantine that did very poorly on their evaluations, but would be absolutely killer if they made the right moves. The F is so far beneath what the businesses themselves deserve. Huge potential.

5. Ernest and Son – http://www.ernestandson.com

Brigantine NJ Website Design Grade F

  • Everything matches back to the branding, and the website feels original.
  • Extra points awarded to this site for being mobile optimized.
  • On the other hand, this website lacks depth. There’s nothing to it, beyond a long homepage with an extremely basic menu. There’s so much more they could do with this website- it hurts to see a primitive website design tied to such a popular deli spot in Brig.
  • Where is the Call To Action? There are no “next steps” for the visitor to take. This website is not compelling and doesn’t do much to attract and engage visitors.
6. Mad Dog Morgan’s – https://maddogmorgans.com

Brigantine NJ Website Design Grade F

  • This homepage matches back to the branding, but the bad thing is that you can’t tell what this business offers right off the bat. The hero image is nothing more than the logo.
  • Probably the most useful feature on this site is the events calendar, but there’s not much information there besides the dates themselves. Also, the MDM Mobile link is throwing us off. Is this a mobile site? Or is that what they call their food truck? Either way, the page is empty so we have no idea what the intention was.
  • It’s not organized very strategically, either. The call to action on this site is not clear or compelling. This site needs some TLC.
  • A professional photographer would make a world of difference here. Where are the high quality photos of scrumptious looking food? There isn’t a single one.
7. The Cove – http://thecovebrig.com

Brigantine NJ Website Design Grade F

  • At first glance, the homepage is nice with an attractive hero image at the top, the logo, and a blurb about the business. There were some strange choices made for the grammar and formatting (the quote) but we may not have noticed if we weren’t analyzing the design itself.
  • The menus are nicely laid out and the designer took time to input the menu details digitally instead of scanning in a paper menu and uploading a pdf like so many others do. (thank God!)
  • The Call To Action “click for specials and events” is very weak. It actually points to an embedded list from the Facebook page. Not so professional in the approach and page layouts.
  • Where is the helpful written content? The biggest mistake this website makes is the lack of information ABOUT the restaurant. There is no About page, no information about dining there or what to expect, or the history of the company- nothing. This is a major oversight for a restaurant in Brigantine NJ, where most potential visitors are seasonal or first-timers in the area.

Worst Examples of Brigantine NJ Website Design

Choosing the worst websites in a town like this is painful. As a web designer in the Ventnor NJ area, I’ve seen these types of mistakes over and over that are wreaking havoc on these businesses and killing their SERP ranking. Some of these websites are so terrible that I’m assuming they came free and ready-made with a domain purchase. The mistakes are numerous and easy to avoid if you’re a web designer who know’s what you’re doing.

8. Goochie Brothers – http://www.goochiebrothers.com/index.html

Brigantine NJ Website Design Grade F

  • This website design is a total disgrace to the business, and it’s gotta go. Visually, functionality-wise, and branding wise- everything. It’s a mess.
  • Where is the helpful written content? These pages are missing the mark.
  • This website is missing a chance at developing leads, with no call to action!
  • The only thing that might have saved this website, the online ordering function, is not even working. This whole thing needs to be revamped if they want to develop and leads and attract new customers who are searching online for food in Brigantine.
9. Crab Shack Seafood Market – http://roccotaco419.wixsite.com/crabshackbrigantine

Brigantine NJ Website Design Grade F

  • Why do so many businesses settle for these God awful template designs? This one still has placeholder text here and there. Whoever set this up did not do a thorough job.
  • The entire bottom half of this homepage is blank white space. Something didn’t load. It’s a waste of space and really bad presentation.
  • These photos suck. I’m not going to sugarcoat it. The photos need to go.
  • Why is there virtually no way of contacting this company? Not acceptable. There’s a phone number and that’s it. Nothing compelling about this website anyway, so there’s probably not a ton of interested visitors trying to reach out.
10. Jolly Roger Marina – http://www.jollyrogersurf.com

Brigantine NJ Website Design Grade F

  • What a dark and archaic looking website design this company is using. It doesn’t feel fun and refreshing like a boating and fishing experience is supposed to feel. It’s quite the opposite.
  • This site lacks most of the modern elements we’ve grown to expect, and the boring icons and tiny white font does nothing to draw visitors in to learn more.
  • Did you see a call to action on this site and felt compelled? Neither did we.
  • Linking out to other industry-related sites would boost this site’s trust score.

Evolve Studios

www.evolvestudios.com/

Evolve appears to be a small collection of independent contractors and service providers. It appears they’ve been in business for over 10 years and they serve mostly local clients. Their work is solid.

JSE Design Studio

http://www.new-jersey-webdesign.net/

JSE has been creating poor to mediocre websites for a painfully long time. Frankly, we are surprised they still make websites. They are mostly known for their Point-Of-Sale systems and other types of technical support -which we understand is much better than their website design.

Townsquare Media

http://townsquaremedia.com

Townsquare Media is well positioned thanks to their affiliation with the local radio industry. While the name is familiar with businesses in South Jersey, Townsquare Media is more infamous than famous. Their website designs are stock layouts and the SEO and digital marketing services they offer seem to lack a customized strategic approach. We have only heard bad things about this web design/marketing company. You could get the same quality for much less money with those starter packages that come cheap with a domain name purchase.

While there is no shortage of business activity in Brigantine NJ, companies actively operating in this town are lacking in the area of effective web presence. This is a missed opportunity both for businesses and for potential customers. Most Brigantine NJ websites are poorly designed, and worse- they’re virtually impossible to find through online search.

To up your chances for success, get your Brigantine NJ website design set up the right way on the right platform, with an approach that draws targeted traffic. A beautiful website that’s supported with smart tools and a digital marketing strategy will drastically help your Brigantine -based business to thrive.
