(Newswire.net — May 31, 2017) — So, you’ve started going to the gym. That’s great! It means that you’re ready to make a positive change in your life and that you’re looking towards the future with bright eyes. However, if you find yourself constantly exhausted at the end of the week without anything to show for it and that you’re taking joint-health-supplements before your time, it might just be that you’re doing something you shouldn’t do or worse, you’re not doing something that you should. When you start a gym membership they’ll usually tell you to bring your own towel and that you need to keep order in the locker room, but here’s what they don’t tell you and you should really know.

Have a well rounded workout routine before going to the gym

When you set foot in that gym, you should already know what machine you need to head towards first, and what will come after that, and so on. You need to take the time out of your own day to come up with a well rounded workout plan that you will follow at the gym. You can watch online videos and guides on how to do that in the most optimal way possible so that you get an effective plan. However, if you don’t do that and just go to the gym randomly picking machines, your progress will be tremendously slower if not nonexistent.

Fuel up before a workout to ensure that you can take it

It’s important to eat and drink before your workout. You need the energy to be able to build muscle from the protein that you also get from eating. Also drink water and make sure you’re hydrated before you begin. Take into account however than eating with less than 1.5 hours to go before your training is a bad idea and your body will hate you for it. You don’t have to take our word for it, you will see yourself when the cramps start to settle in and the entire workout is ruined. Be sure to leave plenty of room before the workout for the food to settle.

Your water bottle and towel should be with you at all times

If you didn’t even acquire such items, now you know that you absolutely need them. Furthermore, don’t get into the habit of just leaving the in one place at the gym, having to return to them every time you are thirsty or need to wipe your face. Instead, carry them with you every time you switch machines. It’s a lot more effective and besides, you need to stay hydrated at all times. So it’s best if you take small sips of water before rep sets so that you keep things flowing. Don’t down half a bottle in one go however, if you fill up on water you will feel heavy and won’t be able to work out anymore.

Know your limits first and foremost

Especially if you’re going to the gym by yourself be sure to know your limits but this also stands if you are going with a friend. Don’t attempt to impress them by trying to lift heavy weights which are above your current capacities. It can get you injured really badly and you will be the only one to blame for it. What’s more, you will need to take a break from the gym altogether meaning that your progress will suffer tremendously.
