(Newswire.net — June 13, 2017) Orlando, FL — There are many lotions, creams, and other products that are widely available in the market today. While these commercially-produced skin care items are helpful, there are also natural remedies thought to be helpful for the skin.

Green tea is one of nature’s skin care gifts for individuals with eczema. This therapeutic beverage has long been believed to be beneficial for skin health. It is widely popularized by the antioxidants it contains.

In a new study, it was found that green tea could potentially fight inflammatory skin conditions, such as lupus-induced lesions, dandruff, and psoriasis. In cases of skin diseases such as psoriasis, skin cells typically multiple uncontrollably.

When this happens, the skin becomes thicker and it usually starts to flake off. It also activates the immune cells of the body, which often results in the development of inflammation.

The Experimental Dermatology, in its August 18 edition, published a study. The researchers of the study divided mice that were genetically predisposed to psoriasis into two groups. One group was routinely bathed in warm water while the other had a mixture of green tea extract with water.

It was found that mice bathed in the extract of green tea developed skin lesions significantly later than the animal subjects washed with warm water. The researchers also found that the lesions were less inflamed and smaller.

The scientists suggest that green tea could slow down skin cell production. This is because this beverage works by regulating caspase activity. Caspase is involved in the regulation of the life cycle of skin cells.

According to Dr. Stephen Hsu, the findings of this research could be important due to the fact that certain treatments used against psoriasis and dandruff usually cause dangerous side effects.

Dr. Hsu also added that these conditions are usually treated with the use of medication and ultraviolet light. While these treatments have the ability to control lesions, they can cause squamous cell carcinoma, which is the second most prevalent form of skin cancer.

The potential therapeutic effects of green tea can be consumed not just in beverage form, but also through supplementation. Supplements are widely preferred due to the fact that they often contain high levels of green tea extracts.

Individuals who want to improve the appearance and health of their skin may turn to the use of supplements.

Supplements are easy to administer since their capsules can be taken anywhere and anytime. Many consumers also believe that supplements containing green tea extracts are more therapeutic.
