(Newswire.net — June 23, 2017) West Los Angeles, CA — After 23 years of dedicated service to her patients, profession and community, Sarah Webster, Director of Matrix Institute on Addiction’s Los Angeles office, retired at the end of April.

“It’s been my great honor and delight to work alongside Sarah. She’s been a constant inspiration to her co-workers and our clients,” said Dan George, M.B.A., M.P.H. and Matrix’s Director of Operations. “Sarah’s passion for her work and compassion for the underserved along with her always upbeat attitude and ‘can do’ spirit’ will be sorely missed. Helping others – always with dignity and respect – is in her DNA.”

Sarah’s work prior to joining Matrix in 1994, first with a nonprofit organization that helped women at risk for HIV or AIDS and later with the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS), held her in good stead as she worked tirelessly to connect Matrix clients with resources and services beyond the scope of treating their addictions. She continued working as a consultant with the DCFS for ten years after joining Matrix.

Sarah has received numerous awards for her contributions to the community, including a 2006 achievement award presented by the mayor of Los Angeles for her outstanding work in the city’s African-American and Latino homeless communities and the 2008 Humility Award presented by the Sierra Tucson Treatment Center, recognizing her efforts in giving back to the community and assisting those most in need.

“Seeing lives transformed so dramatically has been the greatest satisfaction of my career with Matrix,” Sarah said.  “I love Matrix!” Sarah gave a special “shout out” to Matrix co-founder, Jeanne Obert, for the opportunity to work and succeed in the profession she loves.

“On behalf of everyone at Matrix, I’d like to extend our heartfelt thanks for Sarah’s many years of hard work and unwavering passion for our mission,” said Matrix Chief Executive Officer Jeremy Martinez, M.D. “Sarah’s many important contributions to Matrix and our clients cannot be overstated. We all wish her the very best as she embarks on this new chapter of her life.”

In retirement, Sarah will divide her time between the new home that she and her husband built in Jackson, Mississippi, where he serves as a pastor, and Los Angeles, where her three sons and 10 grandchildren live.
