The Extent of Cruel Breastfeeding Shaming

(Newswire.net — December 15, 2017) Cheyenne, Wyoming — For some bewildering reason, modern society has attached great significance to a woman’s breast as a sexual organ of attraction while often times degrading its primary practical function. Breastfeeding is a very natural, beautiful and healthy activity. From the nutritional value provided to the emotional bond established between a mother and her child, breastfeeding is a crucial part of motherhood for those who wish to undertake it. Yet somehow civilization has regressed to the point of associating the organic activity of nursing to a host of skewed thoughts and unsavory sentiments.

“She’s hungry so she’s gonna get fed,” said Jenny Nunes. “At the end we were walking out and I said I hoped he’d had a good breakfast because she had a good breakfast.”

Jenny Nunes is recounting her experience with a “breastfeeding shamer” at a Kroger store located in Columbus, Indiana store. A man noted her quietly feeding her 4 month old daughter in a café and made it his point of duty to query rudely why she chose to breastfeed without a cover. There’s little to no outrage at most advertisements flaunting bustier clad women yet some foolishly wish to taint the scene of a suckling babe.

“I loved her reaction,” said Mandy Dornfeld, a family practitioner. “I thought it was absolutely perfect. She’s taking care of her baby, wasn’t trying to be an exhibitionist. She was making every effort not to disturb others.”

Such petty grouses about breastfeeding have been noted throughout the world. It’s an attitude which is even spread to parts of the developing world which traditionally held nursing in high esteem. Recently in Jamaica, a police woman demanded a new mother to leave the station for attempting to nurse her infant during the lengthy wait to file her report and in Brazil, the law had to step in to address such similar prejudices.

“Discrimination against lactating women has become so bad in the Brazilian city of Sao Paulo that authorities have approved a law that prohibits organizations — both public and private — from stopping a woman from breastfeeding in public,” reports Public Radio International. “Under the legislation, violators could be fined the equivalent of around $150.”

Thankfully, there has been a strong backlash on breastfeeding snobs as nursing moms defend their rights in good stride and niche products continue to be made to cater to their needs. One such offering is the PureMilk™ breast milk analysis kit by HealthyWiser™ which indicates the alcohol content of a nursing mom’s milk after a drink is consumed. With 99.9% accuracy, the PureMilk™ alcohol detecting strips inform when it’s safe for your baby to resume feeds as nature intended.
