(Newswire.net — December 22, 2017) Orlando, FL — For many people, they are only able to learn about UTIs when they already experience their symptoms. There are over-the-counter products found to be helpful in detecting the infection. However, there is a new, improved test that catches the interest of many researchers and clinicians.

A study revealed surprising results produced by a UTI-enhanced test. According to the researchers, this new enhanced test has been able to detect significantly more bacteria than the standard test.

This new enhanced test was developed at the Loyola University Chicago.

The results it provided were stated in the study presented at a meeting of the American Society for Microbiology in New Orleans.

This study was conducted by clinical microbiologists, a multidisciplinary team of basic scientists, and obstetrician/gynecologists at Loyola University Chicago and Loyola Medicine.

Travis Price, PhD, student in the lab of Alan Wolfe, PhD, presented the study. He is a professor in the department of microbiology and immunology at Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine.

UTIs are considered to be among the most common reasons for doctor and emergency hospital care visits. This type of infection affects the urinary system, and it typically involves the urethra and the bladder.

Women have been found to be at a higher risk of the infection. When it develops, it leads to symptoms such as a burning sensation during urination, pelvic pain, a strong urge to urinate and urine that appears discolored or cloudy.

Standard culture is what the current test for urinary tract infections is called.  The new test, on the other hand, is called the enhanced quantitative urine culture (EQUC), which utilizes a volume of urine higher that what is required by the standard culture.

This study involved 150 urogynecologic patients, and half of them reported UTI symptoms. The researchers found that 69 of the 75 women had one or more bacteria species, and this is according to the EQUC test.

The EQUC study is called “Detecting Clinically Relevant Microorganisms: We can do better.” The co-authors are Tanaka Dune, M.D., Evann Hilt, M.S., Cynthia Brincat, M.D., PhD, Linda Brubaker, M.D., and the late Paul Schreckenberger, PhD.

Urinary tract infections can be an extremely painful and costly condition. The good news is that those who believe they are susceptible to UTIs may resort to health-based measures, such as the use of Purest Vantage’s D-Mannose formula.

This formula is carefully-crafted to offer the potentially therapeutic goodness of D-Mannose.  It is not just known for its high potency and purity, but also for the complete customer satisfaction guarantee it comes with.
