(Newswire.net — January 6, 2018) Cheyenne, Wyoming — There’s nothing like planning a really cool beach trip with friends or an impromptu dip in a local lagoon. For a woman however, there’s always that one extra thing she has to think of on her checklist, and that’s the possibility of her period arriving unexpectedly. Most women have a pretty reliable cycle but even so spotting or light flows can start a tad earlier than expected from time to time, so being forearmed serves one well.
Prepare Yourself
It seems obvious but it actually isn’t for everyone. Once entering water tampons or menstrual cups is the way to go. Even if you’re really a pad with wing type of person, that method will simply not work for swimming. The same super absorbent quality one loves about pads is what works against them when submerged as it quickly takes in water which displaces the trapped blood, which means it spreads your period through the pool. Eeewww, no one wants that to happen. Tampons and menstrual cups keep the blood within the body while blocking water for gushing in so select which one you are at most comfort with and insert.
Know Your Flow
Once the favored application is decided upon, the next consideration becomes which size to use in relation to the expected menstrual flow. If unsure, it may be best to work with one size larger than whatever your best guess happens to be. It’s better to be safe than sorry. Experiencing leakage is never a nice feeling so prepare and keep pristine.
Exercise Wisdom
If during one’s menstrual cycle debilitating cramps and aches are regular, then swimming in a big pool may not be the wisest thing to do during your period. The sudden onset of such pain while in the water can spell danger. It’s best to be restricted to smaller bodies of water like say a Jacuzzi, hot tub or even a shallow kiddie pool, there’s no shame in playing it safe.
