Leukocytes Are Fighting the Good Fight

(Newswire.net — February 16, 2018) Cheyenne, Wyoming — The human body is literally like a battle field that has multiple angles of defense but none as responsive and effective as the white blood cells. While the main focus here will be on lymphocytes, which make antibodies to protect against bacteria, viruses and other hazardous intrusions, there is actually an army of different types of white blood cells guarding the body 24/7.

“Think of white blood cells as your immunity cells and in a sense, they are continually at war,” asserts The University of Rochester Medical Center. “They flow through your bloodstream to battle viruses, bacteria, and other foreign invaders that threaten your health. When your body is in distress and a particular area is under attack, white blood cells rush in to help destroy the harmful substance and prevent illness.”

There are monolyctes, neutrophils, basophils and eosinophils all working in perfect military unison with lymphocytes to attack any extraneous stuff recognized to be harmful. Experts have noted that a spike in the levels of lymphocytes throughout the bloodstream is a good indicator that an infection of some sort is being tackled.

“Leukocytes may be found in a urinalysis, or a urine test and high levels of white blood cells in your urine also suggest that you have an infection,” explains Health Line. “In this case, your body is trying to fight off an infection somewhere in your urinary tract. Usually, that means the bladder or the urethra, which is the tube that carries urine from the bladder. Leukocytes in the urine could also suggest a kidney infection.”

Urinary tract infections are much more pervasive than most people think as the public health sector is belabored by an excess of US $2.47 billion bill each year just for the treatment and other related medical expenses. Additionally, women are more prone to suffering from a urinary tract infection due to their shorter urethra which bacteria easily travels along to infect the bladder.

“The first step in an infection is the colonization of the periurethral tissues, followed by the passage of bacteria through the urethra,” states the U.S. National Library of Medicine. “The second step is the adherence of bacteria to the urethra and bladder walls and proliferation. Urinary tract infections are caused by microorganisms, mainly Gram-negative bacteria with Escherichia coli (E. coli) accounting for most cases. Treatment usually involves antibiotics, and recurrence is a major concern.”

To regularly conduct urine sample testing is highly advised as a best practice method of monitoring leukocyte levels as white blood cells are always present but the quantities vary in accordance to needs. The Healthy Wiser Urinary Tract Infection Test Strips are specifically designed to detect the levels of leukocytes and nitrite while providing vital pH readings, all in less than two minutes. Such information has also been proven useful in the diagnosis of kidney stones and other related issues.
