(Newswire.net — October 8, 2022) — The family of the late David Kleiman, former cyber security engineer, filed a suit at the United States District Court in the Southern District of Florida, accusing David’s coworker Craig Wright of stealing thousands of bitcoins valued at more than 5 billion dollars, the Guardian reports.

David Kleiman was a computer science expert in cyber security, many such experts are suspected of being programmers behind the creation of bitcoin and blockbuster technology. He died in 2013. Now the family of the late programmer is suing Wright for a stunning $10bn.

Allegedly, Wright “perpetrated a scheme” to “seize Dave’s bitcoins”. The plaintiff representing Dave Kleiman’s estate, Kleiman’s brother Ira, admits that the total amount of bitcoin in question is unknown – but says it is likely to be somewhere between $300,000 and $1.1 mn.

The official complaint points to the possibility that Wright misused a number of contracts he falsified and then transferred Kleiman’s property to himself.

The prosecutor further states that before Kleiman’s death, Wright claimed the two worked together on the development of blocs and bitcoin. Wright claimed that David signed a document giving him all the rights to property wealth or intellectual property, in exchange for uncontrolled and non-operational participation in an Australian company.

According to the prosecutor, Wright estimated that this share was worth millions and informed Kleiman’s family that within a few months he would sell their share of the property and deliver the money.

It turned out to be a lie, as that company went bankrupt after Wright attempted to deceive the Australian Tax Office. After that, at the end of 2015, running from state authorities in Australia Wright flied to Great Britain.

In addition, the prosecutor alleges that Wright has not yet returned any of the bitcoin, nor the ownership of intellectual property rights over Kleiman’s property, and the lawsuit is an attempt by Kleiman’s family to correct the injustice. The value of those assets, they estimate, far exceed $5 billion.

Although Wright no longer claims that he is Satoshi Nakamoto and the lawsuit does not seek to discover or define the identity of that individual, the proceedings may require that the true identity of the creator of the bitcoin be established in order for the court to make a decision.
