(Newswire.net — March 10, 2018) — Healthcare has undergone a sea of change over the last decades through revolutionary advances such as genome editing, robotic surgeries, 3D printed implants, etc. Medical startups continue to spring up across the world and transform the industry as a whole. Thus, Ukrainian researchers have an exciting opportunity to present their medicine-focused projects and take off at the Medical & Biological Startup Challenge. More than 30 experts will constitute the international panel of judges, including Max Polyakov, Managing Partner of Noosphere Ventures.
The MBioS Challenge, a biomedical startup competition, was held by Innovation House and Borsch Venture in partnership with the Ukrainian Medical Association of the United Kingdom (UMAUK). The organizers primarily focus on developing Ukrainian innovation ecosystem and supporting national inventors. The event will bring together residents that are ready to introduce their solutions relevant to medicine, biology and healthcare: from ideas, prototypes, and demos to ready-to-use applications and finished products. British and Ukrainian investors, business angels and academia representatives will determine the winners of the competition. Along with Max Polyakov, Michael Ryabokon, cofounder of Association Noosphere and Noosphere Engineering School, will provide his business and technological expertise.

The MBios Challenge final will take place in London as a part of the Medicine and Innovation UMAUK Annual Conference in May, 2018. Selected according short pitches, the winning teams or individuals will be provided with acceleration programs depending on project stages. This is a strong motivator for finalists to apply their best efforts and compete for prizes. Max Polyakov is eager to see “wearables” among the finalists as they develop at a rocketing pace nowadays.
It is not accidental that a well-known entrepreneur and a philanthropist has been invited to appraise the startups. First of all, Max Polyakov has two degrees – in Medicine and Economics. His considerable and serious interest in supporting socially valuable medical projects sparked as far back as 2001. Max Polyakov’s contribution to Counterpart International resulted in providing his native city, Zaporizhia, with medical supplies between 2001 and 2003. Since then, managing social initiatives within Ukraine has become one of his lifelong pursuits.
It is worth highlighting the Vernadsky Challenge, an annual engineering startup competition, cofounded by Max Polyakov in 2015. The event proved itself as a fertile ground for projects in various fields, including medicine. The team of organizers keeps an eye on the remarkable success of the Vernadsky Challenge finalists such as Bioton, HeartIn and Cardiomo that came up with medical solutions. For instance, Cardiomo, the first system for consumer health monitoring, captured the global public’s imagination after being highlighted on air by CNN Global in Las Vegas.
