Kourtney Kardashian Keeps a Ketogenic Diet

(Newswire.net — April 6, 2018) Cheyenne, Wyoming — Kourtney Kardashian is the latest celebrity to publicly endorse the keto diet as she disclosed it was initially recommended to her by doctors for a specific issue she was having. She had such a “positive experience” (her exact description) on the ketogenic plan that it’s a thing she has now taken on to keep her weight under control.

“I would make broccoli rice or cauliflower rice to at least feel like I was eating some carbs,” revealed Kourtney Kardashian. “Then I would add protein, so I often ate grilled chicken and fish over broccoli rice, cauliflower rice or spaghetti squash. I mixed in roasted vegetables, fresh salads with homemade dressing, and smoothies made with avocados and bananas.”

Limiting the amount of carbs consumed and displacing it by eating more protein is essentially the basis of keto diets to induce a state known as ketosis. During ketosis, the body looks to fat, stored or just consumed, as the raw material for creating an alternative fuel the body can use in the absence of glucose, this secondary fuel source are, in fact, ketones.

“The ketogenic diet is a way of eating that’s very high in fat (around 80 percent), moderate protein (around 15 percent), and low-carb (around 5 percent),” says Abby Langer, Nutritionist and Registered Dietician based in Toronto, Canada. “When a person eats this way, it puts them into a state of ketosis, which means that they’re burning fat instead of carbs for energy.”

It’s pretty clear why a beauty and image conscious person such as Kourtney Kardashian would be impressed by the narrowing waistline effect of the high protein diet. She has recently been sharing more and more details of her ketogenic diet via her app and fans just keep clamoring to be edified by her on the topic.

“There are multiple ketogenic diet studies that allow subjects to eat as much ketogenic food as they want as long as carbohydrates are restricted,” informs Ketogenic.com. “Many of these studies have found that the subjects voluntarily consume less food. These studies display that the ketogenic diet is not only causing greater weight loss but also a greater perceived rate of fullness. The simple fact that fat is more nutrient dense than the other macronutrients (9 calories per gram compared to 4 calories per gram for carbs and protein) is one proposed reason for improvements with appetite.”

By virtue of being such a heavy diet, the fat consumed keeps one full longer than other food groups could. Protein is a dense macronutrient so it literally requires more time for the digestive fluids to break it down but once done, the body begins turbo charging as the fuel ketones are quickly produced.
