(Newswire.net — June 7, 2018) Cheyenne, Wyoming — There’s nothing like a beautiful sunset, it’s the ideal backdrop to candle light dinners and long romantic walks on the beach. The radiance and energy of the sun is admired the world over and its biggest fan are plants. Yup! Plants love sunlight and without it, they’re pretty dull, sad and won’t survive for very long.
“Photosynthesis is the chemical change which happens in the leaves of green plants,” explains BBC GCSE Bitesize. “It is the first step towards making food – not just for plants but ultimately every animal on the planet. During this reaction, carbon dioxide and water are converted into glucose and oxygen. The reaction requires light energy, which is absorbed by a green substance called chlorophyll. Photosynthesis takes place in leaf cells. These contain chloroplasts, which are tiny objects containing chlorophyll.”
“During the course of evolution, plants developed the capability of capturing and utilizing the solar radiation,” explains Banaras Hindu University, Department of Botany in their research paper entitled Role of Light in Plant Development. “These plants gained an evolutionary advantage over those that have not developed these traits. Light besides being an important source of energy also controls many developmental processes like photoperiodism, phototropism and photomorphogenesis of plant growth.
To simplify things, plants are basically reliant on light for many other functions beyond just to make food. They have physical reactions to the seasonal changes of day/night time durations, grow in response to light stimuli such as when leaning towards or away from a light source. Without light, a plant wouldn’t have much of a life worth writing about and this would likely disrupt the lives of many other organisms sooner or later.
“This gadget exceeded my exceptions,” declares a verified HealthyWiser™ 3-in-1 Soil Meter customer on Amazon. “I am experimenting with indoor gardening and I discovered that all grow-lights are not created equal. In fact this meter helps me determine how close to keep the lights to the plants. Takes the guess-work out of watering my houseplants. Looking forward to testing my outdoor beds for ph levels. It’s really amazing that it uses no batteries.”
