PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS:
The need for students to have support on campus seems too daunting for a nationwide solution.
It is not. We have one.
ONE-ON-CAMPUS

ONE-ON-ONE

HEADQUARTED in Venice, CA. ONE Recovery has community as well as campus based programs. The campus-based pilot program was launched within the Newport Mesa Unified School District in 2015.

Why Newport? They said yes to a forward thinking idea.

ONE was initially funded by the Founder, Lynne Pedersen who has over 30 years of adolescent mental health experience. ONE was created as a space for teens to connect without having to put a label or diagnosis to their struggle. A struggle is not require – only a desire to be inspired. At the ONE Exchange students have the option to exchange a suspension for attendance at meetings. Awareness is raised while more is not lost. Teens don’t act out because they are ok…they act out so we can see they are not.

Last year the program was underwritten by one generous Newport family, Attorney John Manly and his wife Jill. You may be familiar with John as the attorney representing the USA Gymnasts who were the victims of sexual abuse. John and Jill step in and support those who otherwise would not have a voice.

This year Lynne was awarded the prestigious PTA Service Award. This acknowledgement is a testament to the impact that ONE is having on campus. The program includes but is not limited to:

SERVICES:

Lunchtime Drop-In. Students can recharge more than their phones in this safe space.
Peer-Peer Support Group. Peer led with faculty advisor. The group follows the nationwide guidelines and format of ONE. Credit or community service may be given. As simple as it is powerful. Leadership, community and connection.
The Exchange™.  Commit an infraction punishable by suspension and have the option to exchange it for attendance at ONE. Instead of the spiral downward that can occur from suspension the students have the opportunity to rise. Upon successful completion the suspension is removed but so much more is gained.
The Young People’s Meeting. A meeting that embraces the art of many things including conversation. We engage mavericks, innovators and artists to come share their path and passion. In a world of insta-this and snap-that kids drop an anchor here for an hour and truly connect.
Parent Meeting. A place for parents, loved ones and conscious members of the community to simply expand and exhale. We feature speakers, authors and open discussions on topics impacting families today.
Events. ONE architects prolific experiences and events that are aimed at altering the course of lives.
Assistance Line.
ONE operates a free 24/7 Nationwide assistance line for parents offering viable resources during times of struggle.
