According to researchers, obesity could reduce life span and quality of life by 12 percent. Knee osteoarthritis, on the other hand, decreases both by an additional 12 percent.

In the study, the researchers utilized a computer model to determine the impact of both conditions on the life quality and expectancy of adults in the country. They found that African-American and Hispanic women had these two chronic conditions disproportionately.
