(Newswire.net — October 30, 2018) Orlando, FL — Today, researchers focus on what foods to eat and avoid to help people stay healthy. Unfortunately, in a new research, it appears that there are other aspects of health people also need to focus on.

Researchers from Dongguk University Ilsan Hospital in Seoul, South Korea conducted a study.

They have found that eating alone increases the risk of developing a metabolic syndrome. This includes high blood pressure or high cholesterol.

The investigators in the study tried to see the association in between loneliness and the health of men and women. It was found that men were more susceptible to developing health issues.

By eating alone, men had increased risk of obesity by 45 percent. The risk of women, on the other hand, remained relatively the same.

Experts conducted the study due to factors like more and more people living alone around the globe. Living alone has long been speculated to cause one to feel lonely, and even make poor, unhealthy food choices.

The findings of the study were published in the Obesity Research & Clinical Practice.

It involved 7,725 adults who eat alone most of the time and their health was evaluated. Investigators found that aside from the obesity risk increase by 45 percent, they also are at 64 percent heighted risk of developing metabolic syndrome.

The United States Census has revealed that over 27 percent of the population was living solitarily in 2013. In the country, 15 percent of households were women living alone.

However, it is worth mentioning men have been found to be more vulnerable to the undesirable effects of having a single life. This is thought to be due to the fact that social isolation results not just in health risks, but also a higher mortality rate.

Scientists revealed that men are more susceptible than women to having increased death rates and poorer health.

According to a research from the Brigham Young University, loneliness heightens the risk of death by 45 percent.

Men are advised to resort to the measures necessary in fighting loneliness. This can have significant benefits on their overall well-being. They may be able to have healthier food choices by choosing company and not staying lonely.

Males have different nutritional needs that should be addressed to reduce the risk of diseases and disorders. These needs can be satisfied through consumption of healthy foods like fruits and vegetables.
