(Newswire.net — November 5, 2018) — It’s more likely for most of us to be avoiding the gym but there are a few fitness enthusiasts that live to exercise. However, this can come at a much bigger price than they could expect. Bones and muscles can actually start to degenerate prematurely which causes a whole host of problems throughout the entire body.
“Rhabdomyolysis occurs when skeletal muscle tissue breaks down quickly and the damaged cells enter the bloodstream and disrupt kidney function, which can cause sometimes-fatal kidney failure,” explains Everyday Health. “Rhabdo symptoms include muscle pain, weakness and swelling of the affected muscles, and dark, tea-colored urine, caused by presence of the protein myoglobin.”
“Overdoing your workouts can actually lead to diminished strength and increased body fat—your body’s way of begging for a break,” says Corey Stenstrup, performance development trainer at IMG Academies. “While your body can handle a particularly tough workout, it also needs time to recover from the stress overload.”
An elevated resting heart rate is important to note. What your regular resting heart rate is or at least gauge what it sounds like otherwise you can sometimes overlook this critical warning sign. A healthy heart beats 60-100 times per minute and the more in shape you are then the lower your resting heart rate will be as there’s a correlation between fitness and how fast the heart has to pump blood at rest. In the cause of over exercising, one will find an increase in resting heart rate by an additional 10-15 beats per minute, an elevated heart rate suggests all is not perfectly well and something needs addressing. Listen to your body.
Insomnia can also be a result of pushing oneself too hard at the gym and that is a sure way to deprive oneself of quality rest later. You’d think doing all that work would drunk a person with sleep but while you may feel tired, your body is also junked up on a whole lot of chemical changes and imbalance that stay up longer in attempts to resolve it. If this sounds like you, then it’s best to stop hitting the gym for a few days so your body gets a chance to get your hormones and central nervous system back in check so you can return to enjoying your zzz’s in a jiffy.
