(Newswire.net— November 14, 2018) — US President Donald Trump slammed France President Macron in a tweet early morning for propelling the independent EU military idea, but then Twitter fired back.

“Emmanuel Macron suggests building its own army to protect Europe against the U.S., China and Russia. But it was Germany in World Wars One & Two – How did that work out for France? They were starting to learn German in Paris before the U.S. came along. Pay for NATO or not!,” US President tweeted as soon as he returned to the White House from a ceremony in Paris that marked the 100th anniversary of the allied victory in World War I.

Trump’s tweet sparked a history lesson delivered in comments that U.S. should be grateful to France who helped the American revolution. “They even gave you the Statue of Liberty to celebrate this,” Former Belgian Prime Minister Guy Verhofstadt tweeted back reminding the US President that France financed the U.S.’s independence.

While history lessons line up as a response to Trump’s remark, the US President noticed that the Ceremony in France was used by the President of France to accommodate their own political agenda. The ceremony was poorly organized and historical facts were abused.

“The problem is that Emmanuel suffers from a very low Approval Rating in France, 26%, and an unemployment rate of almost 10%, the US President tweeted.

U.S. President Donald Trump, Russian leader Vladimir Putin and other heads of state marked the 100th anniversary of the victory in World War I. The ceremony that everyone expected to promote world peace, actually promoted the political course of President Macron whose speech was ridiculed in media.

The Emmanuel Macron’s Armistice Day speech was about everything and nothing, according to worldwide media. The Independence reported that the King of Morocco even fell asleep during Macron’s speech.

The ceremony’s protocol also raised eyebrows as the scandal with seats attracted media attention. Instead of going to the President of Serbia, the seat that was reserved for wining countries of The Great War was given to Kosovo’s leader Hashim Thaci.

In the photographs published by the Reuters agency from the Peace Forum, which brings together world leaders, it seems that the head of the temporary institutions in Kosovo, Hashim Thaci, is sitting in the immediate vicinity of Russian President Vladimir Putin, Russian news agency Sputnik noticed.

To understand the magnitude of this scandal, one should understand that Serbia was the country that shed first blood in WWI. Also, it was the Serbian army that defeated the Bulgarian and Austro-Hungarian troops in a great breakthrough that forced Germany to retreat and resulted in WWI ending much sooner than expected. Serbia lost a third of its population in WWI.

Kosovo, on the other hand, didn’t existed until 1999, and Kosovo Albanians originate from neighboring Albania, a country that was on the side of Germany in both world wars.

Honoring Kosovo over Serbia at the ceremony that marks 100 years of WWI ending was a protocol mishap, according to the French envoy to Serbia. However, the media speculates that the seat was well paid.
