(Newswire.net — December 11, 2018) Orlando, FL — In women, menopause symptoms are often attributed to a drop in estrogen production. It is also believed that in men, deficiency in testosterone causes changes with age in men.
According to researchers, the symptoms often observed in middle-aged men are often attributed to the less drastic reduction in the production of testosterone, which usually occurs in the middle years.
However, in a new study, it appears that there are other reasons for these changes.
A research study was conducted by Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) researchers. They found that inadequate estrogen may be partially responsible for some of the symptoms, which include changes in energy, body composition, strength, and sexual function.
Joel Finkelstein, MD, of the MGH Endocrine Unit, is the corresponding author of the study in the Sept. 12 New England Journal of Medicine.
He said that the study finds testosterone levels may aid in providing a rationale for determining which males should be provided with testosterone supplement treatment.
However, he added, the biggest surprise was that some of the symptoms traditionally attributed to deficiency in testosterone are now linked with estrogen decline.
Male hypogonadism pertains to a drop in the levels of reproductive hormones in an extent great enough to produce physical symptoms. Traditionally, a diagnosis of male hypogonadism has been based solely on a measure of blood testosterone levels.
In the United States, diagnosis has dramatically increased. This led to a 500 percent increase in testosterone prescriptions in the country between 1993 and 2000.
Researchers found that higher testosterone levels in a normal man results in more estrogen conversion. A drop in the levels of testosterone, on the other hand, could mean there is less conversion into estrogen.
More studies are still underway to investigate the roles estrogen play in these symptoms. Men are advised to resort to measures necessary so that they’d be able to reduce their risk of symptoms.
Natural remedies like ddindolylmethan (DIM) have been found helpful for testosterone activity. This compound can be found in cruciferous vegetables and has been discovered to have effects on estrogen metabolism.
Through these effects, it offers support to testosterone by helping maintain the level of active of free testosterone. It is important to understand that free testosterone pertains to defraction of testosterone circulating in the blood.
DIM aids in maintaining and regaining a youthful balance between free testosterone and estrogen. It is imperative to understand that such a balance is a key to an active and healthy metabolism.
Purest Vantage DIM may be an excellent source of this powerful healing compound. It could be helpful in men who are suffering from certain symptoms. This formula is popularized widely by its high potency and purity.
