(Newswire.net — December 15, 2018) Orlando, FL — Conditions such as cerebral palsy can be extremely troublesome. Individuals who suffer from it may live a reduced quality of life. There are medications available for the condition but there are also natural alternatives thought to be helpful for sufferers.

Fish oil may be a beneficial supplement for cerebral palsy. This condition is a group of disorders that impact the nervous system and the brain. There are types of cerebral palsy that cause digestive symptoms such as constipation and vomiting.

Nutrition is important for individuals who are suffering from cerebral palsy. There are certain vitamins and minerals as well as supplements that are believed to help supply the body with the nutrients it needs.

According to experts, certain factors can trigger the development of the condition. It can develop when abnormalities or injuries in the brain take place during fetal development of the first two years of life. The symptoms may vary since the condition can affect different parts of the brain.

Spastic cerebral palsy is the most common type that affects the functioning of the muscle. Individuals who suffer from this condition typically experience symptoms such as tremors, abnormal movements, seizures, vision or hearing difficulties, learning problems, and digestive problems.

Unfortunately, there has not been any cure identified for the condition. However, there are treatments, which usually vary according to symptoms experienced by the cerebral palsy sufferer.

Vitamin D, vitamin D-3, vitamin B-6, and calcium are thought to be some of the vitamins and minerals that may be helpful for sufferers. Magnesium is also thought to be helpful in the prevention of cerebral palsy in children.

Omega-3 fatty acids are also believed to be important for individuals with cerebral palsy. Omega-3 fats are healthy fats that are essential for the functioning of the body ad brain. These fats cannot be produced naturally by the body, and thus, they need to be consumed from food or through supplementation.

“There are many fish oil supplements available nowadays,” said VitaBreeze Supplements spokesperson, Michelle O’Sullivan.

Omega-3s may be obtained from eating fish such as salmon, tuna, halibut, herring, and sardines. However, there are those who prefer to use fish oil supplements. Omega-3s are believed to be helpful in reducing involuntary movement in individuals with movement disorders like cerebral palsy.

In a 2002 study, which was published in Epilepsia, it was found that omega-3 fatty acids may help reduce the intensity and frequency of seizures, which are one of the complications of cerebral palsy.
