(Newswire.net— January 18, 2019) — Indian scientists have again thrilled the public with claims that the theories of Albert Einstein and Isaac Newton are inaccurate, the BBC reports.

Some Indian academics appeared at the annual Indian Science Congress, which was opened by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and there they rejected the commonly accepted scientific discoveries insisting among other things that the ancient Hindus had actually uncovered stem cell research.

G Nageshwar Rao, vice chancellor of Andhra University said that the demonic king of the Hindu epic had 24 different aircraft and more landing runways than today’s Sri Lanka. However, last year, Indian Education Minister Satyapal Singh (now Minister of Human rights and Development) said at a public ceremony that that the first plane was invented by Indian Shivakar Babuzi Talpadi, eight years before the Wright brothers developed their aircraft.

Minister Singh, who has a postgraduate degree in chemistry from Delhi University, also dismissed the evolution theory.

“Darwin’s theory is scientifically wrong,” he said. “It needs to change in the school and college curriculum.”

Another scientist from the southern Tamil state of Tamil Nadu, who spoke at the conference, said that Isaac Newton and Albert Einstein were wrong and that gravitational waves should be renamed Narendra Modi Waves.

Dr. Kej-Jay Krishnan allegedly said that Newton did not “understand gravity” and that Einstein’s theory was “misleading.”

Critics say that the ancient texts should be read and enjoyed – but it is meaningless to claim that they are scientific discoveries.

The Association of Indian Scientific Congress, however, expressed “serious concern” over criticism.

“We don’t subscribe to their views and distance ourselves from their comments. This is unfortunate,” Premendu P Mathur, general secretary of Indian Scientific Congress Association, told the AFP news agency.

Indian officials and scientists have a history of mixing religion myths with science. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, said at a gathering of doctors and medical staff at a hospital in Mumbai in 2014 that the story of the Hindu God Ganesha-shaped in the elephant’s head on the human body-showed that aesthetic surgery existed in ancient India.
