(Newswire.net — February 14, 2019) — Who says romance and tight budgets don’t mix? For some people, nothing is as attractive as a partner who knows how to make their money work for them. With that in mind, and with Valentine’s Day having just come and gone, we thought we’d take a look at some of the most romantic international holiday destinations that won’t break the bank.

  1. Todos Santos, Mexico

Mexico certainly has a reputation as a raucous destination for Spring Break, but there’s much more to this diverse and incredibly beautiful holiday hotspot than that. While Cabo is home to the pricey and frankly overdeveloped resorts, just a little over an hour down the coast, you’ll find the charming and much more affordable town of Todos Santos.

This much quieter part of Baja is the perfect spot for couples who want more than just a day on the beach followed by an all-night party. As well as a thriving arts scene, this bohemian town is also a real draw for foodies, with an abundance of fresh seafood as well as locally sourced organic produce that features in traditional dishes and international cuisine alike. Add to that the jaw-dropping views of the Pacific and the quiet expanses of white sand and you have the perfect destination for couples of every age.

  1. Paphos, Cyprus

As the birthplace of Aphrodite, the goddess of love, you’d expect Paphos to cater for couples, and it certainly doesn’t disappoint. The main town is quite lively, with plenty of cafés, bars and restaurants where you can eat, drink and dance the night away, but there’s also a much more subdued, thoughtful side to the city, with fascinating ancient ruins, tombs and fortresses to explore, some of which are UNESCO World Heritage Sites. There are also several sites relating to the mythical goddess of love herself, as well as some unspoiled, virgin beaches where you can escape the crowds and make the most of your time together.

  1. Algarve, Portugal

Although Europe is certainly not the closest destination for American couples, Portugal, on the very west of the continent, is as close as it gets. Flight times from the east coast of the US are around 7 hours, but we think your efforts will be well rewarded.

As well as the popular holiday resorts of Albufeira and Vilamoura, the Algarve is also home to many sleepy, traditional villages which have barely been touched by the hands of time. They are perfect for leisurely strolls, traditional meals and a good glass of local wine. There are also numerous fishing villages, olive groves as far as the eye can see and windswept beaches that are well suited to sunbathers and water sports lovers alike.

Portugal also has the advantage of being one of Western Europe’s most affordable holiday destinations, cheaper than neighboring Spain and the popular Greek Islands. All-inclusive Teletext Holidays are one of the cheapest ways to visit the Algarve and include everything you and your beloved will need to have a truly memorable time.

  1. Montego Bay, Jamaica

If you and your partner’s idea of a good time is sun-soaked beaches, cocktails on the sand and wonderful year-round weather, the Caribbean is an obvious choice for you. As one of the region’s most budget-friendly destinations, Jamaica is an island we’d put at the top of our list, particularly given the range of cheap flights that are available from budget airlines like JetBlue.

Although some of the accommodation in and around Montego Bay can be pricey, if you stay away from the top resorts, you’ll also find some much cheaper options. Once you’ve found a great deal, you can look forward to spending your time soaking up the sun, getting up close and personal with the exotic marine life and gazing in awe at the romantic waterfalls.

  1. Cape Verde

Cape Verde, a tiny island nation situated off western Africa in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, is as close as you’ll get to having a private island all to yourselves. With its unspoiled beaches, majestic mountains and stunning natural beauty, you’d expect Cape Verde to be swarming with like-minded tourists, but you’ll have more than enough space to fall in love with the islands and your partner all over again.

As well as strolling hand-in-hand around the pretty capital Boa Vista, you can enjoy land-based adventures such as hiking and mountaineering or take to the pristine Blue-Flag beaches. Giant humpback whales visit the islands in spring and early summer and provide a truly spectacular sight, making this a great choice for beach lovers and nature enthusiasts alike.

Ready to book your romantic holiday? We hope these affordable international destinations will provide plenty of food for thought.
